1934 MLB Playoffs

I got excited after the Expos won last year, but the Dodgers win their 4th this year.

1934 Hall of Fame

Verne Rodriquez, LHP

Rodriquez was also a borderline candidate, but the fact that he is a lefty and a Pitcher of the Year winner pushed him over the edge. His JAWS value is solidly in HOF territory, but his career WAR total is quite low. He won a gold glove and went to four all-star games along with being a part of two World Series teams.

Career Stats: 2923.7 IP, 854 BB, 912 K, 3.67 FIP, 94 FIP-, 47.6 WAR, 62.7 JAWS

Blake Martin, 3B

Had Martin played a little better defense, he might find himself in the Hall as well. He made two all-star teams and won one silver slugger and one World Series. He is one of nine 3B in history to accumulate more than 2000 hits and one of five to have more than 100 HR.

Career Stats: 8490 PA, 2001 H, 112 HR, .348 wOBA, 110 wRC+, -60.1 ZR, 32.7 WAR, 30.1 JAWS

1935 MLB Playoffs

Out of the final 4 teams in the playoffs, the absolute last one I would have rooted for is the one who came out victorious, of course. Good for the A's and Dbacks getting close, though.

Johan Velez is also a free agent but has not aged well - He put up only 1.2 WAR in 113 games in his age 32 season. He was out over two months with a sore shoulder.

Phoenix Amoss, CF

Phoenix's career got off to a rocky start after he failed to sign out of Southlake Carrol High School. He had won the TUIL MVP award three times but instead of starting his MLB career, went to St Marys, where he proceeded to win the NCAA MVP award twice. He was then drafted by the Indians with the 1st overall pick and signed quickly. He won two MVPs in the Major Leagues, went to 6 all-star games, was a 4-time silver slugger, two-time World Series champ, and won three playoff series MVP awards. He retires as the 5th best CF in MLB history.

Career Stats: 10296 PA, 2641 H, 147 HR, 406 SB, .353 wOBA, 117 wRC+, -34.0 ZR, 53.7 WAR, 49.4 JAWS

Brandon Peres, C

Peres was drafted in the 19th round out of San Francisco by San Diego in 1917. His potential quickly shot up and by 1920 he won the silver slugger and went to the first of his two all-star games. He also won two gold gloves and a world series. He retires as the 6th best catcher in MLB history, probably the best so far out of the Hall. He has the second most hits of all catchers and the most home runs by far.

Career Stats: 7548 PA, 1663 H, 109 HR, .330 wOBA, 99 wRC+, 3.1 ZR, 35.1 WAR, 28.4 JAWS
