I tried renaming the background folder that is inside the facegen folder so that it would produce player images with transparent background and it seems to be working. So, I thought I would try something else, and similiar to the 1973position silhouettes, I'm working on having a player but using the team colors. hard to explain so here is the first results. Just working on the front right now...
I have to admit that it looks a little funny how the player's shoulder gets cut off in mid air... :-) I tried using the logo to cover the shoulder but it gets a 'little' busy

davwms, these are great. I did the same thing by renaming the backgrounds folder as I am trying to create something similar with the painted look of the 1955 & 1956 Topps cards. I assume you are using trialpha to change the colors on the catcher's protector. What are the solid images in team color for? - Is that the back of the card or do you overlay it somehow?
I ran into the same problem you mentioned - how do you cover the straight line of the players sides without making the card too busy. For mine I have offset one shoulder out of the viewable area, but haven't figured out how to cover up the other.

The boxes in team color are for the back of the card, but I can't figure out why it is showing up in team color. The image that I apply the trialpha coloring is just the top section with teh 'rays' and the catcher's gear, Then on top of that I have the picture of the catcher. For the catcher, I made it somewhat transparent whereever the gear is (what I want to be colored), to provide the texture thru the color...

Ok, this is frustrating. When I moved the back of the card below the front, I get cut off at that end.

I don't know if there's a setting somewhere to expand the default card size, or if it's related to the fact I'm running this on a Mac, but is there anything I can do other than overlap or give up on the idea of horizontal front and back to the cards?

Since this has been the defacto place of late for baseball card design discussions, I thought I'd post this link on card number placement:
Nobody Puts '63 Fleer In A Corner

And of course, this is a great place to reiterate the need for a player ID/random number token to allow us to number cards uniquely.

How about a token for League_Abbreviation (versus League_Name)? Is that a doable thing? Don't know that much about xml coding, so just asking.

Hey, how are you guys getting those bigger player images? I noticed on FHomess cards the widthxheight dimensions of the player was 205x281. Is it simply being stretched, or is there some option in the game I haven't discovered that allows for larger player images? If they are stretched, they sure don't look blurred - they are still pretty crisp.

In the xml template, you can specify the size of the photo. If you are creating cards in a solo game, it will make a new photo of that size (no stretching).

Unfortunately, if you are creating cards in an online league environment, it will not make a new photo and instead it uses the 90x135 photo from the images folder. It will stretch this if you desire, but as one would expect it tends not to look real great.

I really like the sunburst ones at the top of this page. Not sure what I would do with the shoulder cut off either. Maybe you could zoom in and just use the player's face. Might look more natural.

I'm totally impressed with the way you got the catcher's gear to change to the team color. That looks great!

Ok, they're finally out. I've given these the 2005 designation, for reasons you can all guess at.

You can get it here: 2005 fhomess
