agreed -- it's not a deal-breaking thing for me, but I loved playing the game with sound as part of the atmosphere... it felt good to get a big hit, and then "hear" it as well as see the PbP develop on the screen ...

Becouse the in-game AI affects the outcome of the game even if you just quick-sim it?

I was just saying that from the perspective of someone who would play in-game (if I did), I'd want the substance of the in-game experience to be closer to great as opposed to adding sound. But you're right, for me, I'd say no to sound, but please fix the sign-and-release and other roster management issues we're seeing. |

Yes and no. For me, the outcome is all that matters, so I don't even notice individual issues in any specific game. I'm more concerned with the overall simulation accuracy. I bet if one of my teams lost Game 7 of the WS on a flat-out screwy AI decision, I wouldn't even notice it. |

For me they are tightly coupled, even if you don't notice the fact that the game result was affected by weird AI-decisions it's for me as a quick-simmer nice to know that the games are played out in a realistic way behind the scenes. Even tough I only look at the game logs for very special games.

Small Hijack Alert:
How about smells? Now, that would be a code challenge. Everything from, oh, Boog Powell's Barbecue to Seventh Inning Bud Light Vomit.

If sound or 2D animation is going to be added by someone like Andreas who isn't involved with the important programming, and if adding it doesn't cause as many problems as adding FaceGen did, and if I can turn it off (which is pretty much a given), then I don't mind it. There are too many important issues still to be dealt with (scouting, financials, AI and more) that need Markus's attention. |
