What is the best way
To have a player salary hard cap league?
Would it be to just set a player cap, and then you can still only spend $ based on whether you have $ Left for Extensions $ Left for Free Agents (within cap) And then perhaps have a player floor (manually instituted) so that people cannot circumvent the cap and tank etc |

Best of luck. If you figure it out, let us all know the secret to bypass the dreaded 'next year's budget' problem.
I've found no way 'in game' to actually use a straight cap the way I want to. |

Cooley, thanks for the reply.
So here's my thought and tell me why it won't work -If all teams start with equal markets, fan, stadium capacity, fixed draft budget. -The cap will be higher than the draft budget. -There is no arbitration. Thus no "expected/unknown" salary increase. So players get auto-renewed 3 times, then hit free agency -A Salary floor instituted, manually police'd by Commish to avoid tanking and a massive free agency blitz. -Teams that have $ Left for Extensions and $ Left for Free Agents can use that $ up to the cap. If the cap is $10 and you have salaries up to $9 but you have $2mil in FA money, you may only spend $1 of that $2. |

Then also setting the cash cap to max so that every team can MAKE money and use that money when they need it.
So if the cap is $12mil and you spend $10mil on players but you make $5mil. Then you spend an extra $2mil you still have $3mil saved for next year if you want it... should you lose contracts etc |
