Cubs will regret hiring Madden as its a classic case of paying for past performance. That and potential tampering charges.

We have a poll on the most obscure transaction of the offseason.

No problem man.
I'm a Blue Jay fan with a brain and it appears that a large proportion of Jays fans posting online can't grasp the fact that if this trade had not been offered the Jays would have declined Lind's option paid him $1M and made him a free agent. Getting something, anything, instead of nothing for a player you were willing to pay $1M to go away is good. This was not a trade of players so it can't be evaluated that way. It was a trade of financial obligations to free up money and Milwaukee helped out because they have some payroll flexibility and the risk/reward may favor them. There was zero chance that any deal for Lind would return any value due to his limitations and wonky back. If he plays 100 games next year I'll be shocked.

Wait. I thought Adam Lind was mainly the DH for the Blue Jays? What position could he possibly fill for the Brewers?

Exactly. As bad as you think any 1B in baseball is now, Lind is worse.

Did someone tell Jason Heyward to make sure he keeps his walking to the sidewalks and not in the middle of the street?

Toronto with a real head scratcher of a move for Martin.

?
How is it a head scratcher. Jays are trying to win. Martin is a winner. Jays are trying to change their "clubhouse culture" and Martin is a leader. You may not like the deal, the length or the amount, but i don't see how this isn't a trying to win move. |
