Talking OOTP 19 - New In-Game Experience Screenshots!

Alright folks, today is the day.

We just announced a pretty big deal for our little company (OOTP 19 will be available on EA's Origin) and to celebrate we are today revealing the biggest feature of OOTP 19, the totally redesigned in-game experience.

Our beta testers have been playing with this for a while already, and if you believe them (I do), this is the single biggest change and new feature in years. The screen is brand new, stadiums have been improved and we have 3D player animations, finally! Playing out games in OOTP is a great experience now, truly a game-changer.

Here are some screenshots. Please note that the MLB/MLBPA logos in the lower right are just part of the screenshots, they won't show up in the game.

OK, let's dive in. First up, the pre-game screen. I think the layout is now better, and you get some neat player photos, status icons (eg. hot & cold, tired etc) and a comparison between each team's lineup spot.

Now the substitution screen. We have split up the player list into two lists so you have position players and pitcher both available at the same time. You can show ratings or stats and toggle between different splits. And the old customizable list is available via the "Show customizable list" toggle.

OK, here's a new screen, team leaderboards. Only players from the two teams are shown, so you immediately can get a feel for which team may have the advantage. This screenshot is from a league on day 3 of the season, so not much is going on here yet.

Well, enough with the foreplay already. Let's finally enter a game! Here is the new default view, called "Modern 3D". Isn't it pretty?
A 2D version of the screen is available, and the old views are still around too, called "Classic XX mode".

Here's another one:

And here's one with all widgets shown. The screen is set on auto-setup, but you can also set it to mahual and move widgets and also toggle the size of some so they display more info.

Now, when the play is underway, you can now have the widgets or even the top area hidden, so you only see the entire field.

So, what do you think? Can't wait until March 22? I am very proud of the new in-game feature, Matt (animations), Jorin (3D ballparks & animations) and Daniel (design) have done a terrific job.

Soon we'll release a walkthrough video where I'll explain many new OOTP 19 features and the in-game experience in-depth. So, stay tuned, and tell all your friends about OOTP 19!

Cheers,
Markus and the entire OOTP team

I love it. This is minor, and has been there for years, but is there a reason the Kauffman scoreboard is still the 1980 light bulb format? Can it be remapped with the modern HD screen version?

Yeah, we still have some cleaning up to do, and this will be among that.

Once again, OOTP Team does not disappoint!

Wow!! Unbelievable job done by the team! It looks like a network broadcast!! Looks to me like the team uniforms have their colors too, please correct me if I'm wrong.

It's funny, I wanted so bad to see some new screenshots, but now I'm kind of wishing I hadn't seen them. March 19th now seems like a year away! Can't wait!!!

Ha, same here! OOTP 19 is really really close to the game I always wanted. There is just on little thing missing, which is a ballpark construction kit, but that will come one day, too

Oh that would be cool. Especially when you get way into the future and some of the parks would be 80-90 years old by that point and it would be time to build new.

Simply stunning!

I posted some concerns about the size and design of the new widgets in the "old" thread. Markus was quick to reply that all was well as is noted here in the first post of this thread...

"and the old views are still around too, called "Classic XX mode".

Nice touch leaving in the old just in case
