Historically sim with ww2
So I’d like to do a sim where I play as manager of the Red Sox during Ted Williams career. I would do historical transactions, and only be able to tinker with lineups. I’d like to see if I could ever beat the Yankees and what the career of Williams would be like without ww2
However, I’m unsure about a part of this. If I do historical transactions, will that remove Williams for the 43-45 seasons? I know I could probably manually put him in, but if I did that the Sox would have a big advantage over competitors who have their best players at war. Is there a way to historically sim the Sox during the career of Williams career that leaves the leagues intact during the 43-45 seasons? |

Once players come in the game leaves them in.

Put another way, if you start in 1939, WW2 never happens.

EDIT: If using historical transactions, Williams will be sidelined for any seasons he missed due to the war, whether playing with Neutralized Stats or Real Stats. Last edited by actionjackson; 12-24-2017 at 06:45 PM. |

I'm not so sure if this is the case in regards to what Jerry said he wants to do. One of the things on by default when you use real transactions is retire and miss seasons according to history. I'm thinking if Jerry wants to keep Ted around during the war years, the box for "players miss seasons according to history" may need to be unchecked. Otherwise, I think Ted will be present but unusable during the war years. If I remember right, 18 basically gives Williams a season long injury for a missed season.
Another thing that may need to be considered is what recalc to use. 1 might punish (make bad feature) Williams for the war years. 3 year might be less strict and result in a better what if..... |

Yes I think the bold is true. I don't think even unchecking the miss seasons button can prevent this. My bad. This is something new and started with 17. With 16 you could play using real transactions and uncheck the miss seasons and the player would still be usable. Want to say forum member "TheHef" is someone that's posted about this extensively, as the changes have really effected the way he plays. Also, I have bumped an old thread about 1901 outfielders. Please read that thread before starting a league using Neutralized stats. |

So it looks like with some work, you could do the war years with players on their rosters, but you would have to manually put them on their teams. A player that missed a season will be among the free agents. Last edited by David Watts; 12-24-2017 at 09:17 PM. |
