Spring Training action saw the Rangers take on Milwaukee.

Rich Hand pitched 4 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Casey Cox pitched 2.1 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits 2 walks and a strikeout.

Gerry Janeski pitched 2.2 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.

Angel Mangual and Jim Mason hit back to back home runs. Frank Howard and Ken Suarez also had home runs.

Bucky Dent had an RBI double.

The two teams combined for 26 hits.

Texas won 7-4.

The Rangers Spring Training opponent today is the Oakland Athletics.

Don Stanhouse pitched 4 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits walked 1 and struck out 4.

Paul Lindblad pitched 3 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 3 hits with a strikeout.

Bill Gogolewski pitched 2 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit.

Jeff Burroughs had a 2-run homer in the first inning.

Before getting into the Spring Training action, there are a couple of trades around the majors.

The Detroit Tigers traded LF Jim Northrup to the Kansas City Royals for CL Tom Burgmeier and LF Mike Easler.

The Chicago Cubs sent C Dave Duncan to the Houston Astros for SP Dave A Roberts.

In today's Spring Training game, the New York Yankees were the Rangers opponent.

Kevin Kobel got the start and pitched 4 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits walking 1 and striking out 1.

Jan Dukes pitched 4.2 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits walking 1 and striking out 2.

Jim Shellenback faced one batter and got him to fly out to end the game.

Bucky Dent had a pair of hits.

Toby Harrah had an RBI double.

Texas 4 Yankees 0.

The Rangers have a chance to move to .500 in Spring Training as they take on the Cleveland Indians.

Dick Bosman pitched 4 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits and a walk while striking out 3. He came into the game with a Spring Training ERA of 6.00.

Jim Panther pitched 3.2 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 1.

Bill Gogolewski pitched 1.1 inning allowing 3 hits and striking out 1.

Toby Harrah had a 2-run single in the third.

Hal King had a solo home run in the fourth. He leads the team with 4 Spring Training homers. King also had a double in the sixth inning.

Texas held on to win 3-2.

The Rangers have won 4 straight! Alas, it's still just Spring Training. Today they go against the Red Sox.

Steve Rogers pitched 4 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with a strikeout. He gave up a 2-run homer in the third.

Paul Lindblad pitched 3 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits and 2 walks.

Bill Gogolewski pitched 1.1 inning allowing 1 run on 4 hits and a walk.

Steve Lawson pitched 1.2 perfect innings, striking out 1.

Frank Howard led off the bottom of the tenth with a walk off home run. He had 2 hits in the game.

Dave Nelson had 2 stolen bases and scored twice.

Texas won 4-3.

An unexpected development has occurred as Mario Guerrero, the Twins third round pick of the 1972 draft, retired at the age of 23.

The Rangers continue Spring Training with a game against the Orioles today.

Just two Spring Training games remain. The Rangers play the Angels today. Meanwhile, the Mets have lost RP Tommy Moore for 10-11 months because of a torn labrum.

The final Spring Training game for the Rangers was against the Twins.

Dick Bosman pitched 4 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits and a walk while striking out 1. He gave up a solo home run in the fourth.

In the bottom of the second, the Rangers loaded the bases with one out. But could not get a run home.

In the bottom of the third, Harrah gave the Rangers their first lead of the season with a 2-run homer.

After three: Texas 2 Chicago 0.

In the top of the sixth, May had an RBI single to run his hit streak to 11 games. The White Sox loaded the bases with one out and then took the lead on the Rangers second error of the inning. Brown then brought the inning's fourth run home with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the sixth, Mason tied the game with a 2-,run single.

After six: Chicago 4 Texas 4.

In the top of the eighth, Bill Gogolewski replaced Bosman with a runner on first and nobody out. And he got through the frame with the score still tied.

In the bottom of the eighth, Terry Forster replaced Bradley with a runner on first and nobody out. And he too kept the score tied.

After nine: Chicago 4 Texas 4.

Mike Garman came in to pitch for the Rangers in the tenth innning.

In the bottom of the tenth, the White Sox brought Ken Frailing in to pitch.

In the top of the eleventh, a throwing error gave the White Sox the lead again. It was the Rangers third error of the game. Kelly added an RBI single.

Burroughs had an RBI single in the bottom of the first.

May had a solo shot in the top of the eighth to bring Chicago's home run total for the game to 4.

Allen left the game in the top of the ninth with an injury. Brown added an RBI single. Harmon added another RBI as well.

Chicago out hit Texas 15-3.

Mayberry had an RBI single in the bottom of the first.

Schaal had a solo home run, his first of the season, in the bottom of the second. Piniella added a 2-run double.

Biittner got the Rangers on the board with an RBI single in the top of the third.

In the top of the seventh, Nelson picked up an RBI single.

In the bottom of the eighth, Mike Garman replaced Hand with a runner on first and two out. A Schaal single gave the Royals 10 hits for the game but they would not score in the inning.

In the top of the ninth, the Rangers had a runner on first and one out. Don Hood replaced Busby. Pinch hitter Tom Grieve doubled to put the tying run in scoring position but neither Billings nor Nelson could come through.
