Is it possible to start a new file using players from an old save?

I want to start a season in 2019 using players/rosters from another file that is currently in the year 2040. Is it possible to do this? I would be ok with the league history not transferring but I want to keep the current rosters as is.

Thanks

you can export that league as a template, and it will retain all the players in their current form at time of export. if you are looking to modifiy things or start fresh, this is a good way to go.

think that's under league structure? if not main league settings 'available actions' etc... it's there somewhere, the manual can help.

league history does follow, but you can rest it, if you want to (a 'league settings' function).

also, you can always copy/rename league and load that at anytime as a fork, and keep the other one separate. or restore a backup with a new name etc...

templats are significantly smaller.. . 30t with players might be a couple hundred megabytes, vs gigabyte or 2 wtih some history for a .lg folder, or even higher.

now, any custome faces, jerseys, etc, will need to be copied over or you may need to click the [sic] reload logos etc checkbox when you load that new league up the first time. some things may require a touch, or not... it can all be easily fixed, either way.

Thanks for the response. I found copying the file and just resetting league history was able to cut my file size in half.

To keep stats for current players, I made a 3rd file and deleted the retired.dat file, exported stats (as I only wanted stats for current players, given that I have stats for retired players in the original file) and then uploaded that file to the game i'm currently using.

My only issue is that there will be a 5 year gap in the hall of fame for players that retired in the previous 5 years. Given I only uploaded stats for current players, none of the HoF players in this year range have stats either. Do you have a workaround for this?

Thanks

I was thinking about just simming 5 years in my original file, seeing which players made the HoF/were HoF eligible, and then updating the stats file containing only current players with the HoF eligible ones. Does that make sense?
