Help me decide my Award Winners
I just finished my first season of a new MLB game for OOTP 12 and I need help voting on my Regular Season awards.
The White Sox (85-77, ALC Champs) were the underdog World Series Champs, edging the Yankees (103-59, ALE Champs) in the ALDS, the Red Sox (99-63, AL Wildcard), and finally the Phillies (110-52, NLE Champs) in five games. I know in my head who the individual award winners for the season are, but that sort of takes the voting process out of it so if you have the time and the inclination, feel free to vote on my award winners. I have selected three to four nominees in each category; rank them and the first 25 responses will count. I’ll publish the results at the end. Red Italics indicates a League Leading number. AL MVP: 3B Alex Rodriguez, NYY (103-59, 1st ALE) 704 PA, .277/.378/.551, 47 HR, 145 RBI, 147 OPS+, .387 wOBA, 59.2 VORP, 4.9 WAR, -10.4 UZR and .961 EFF at 3B 3B Evan Longoria, TB, (86-76, 3rd AE, 13 GB of Wildcard) 725 PA, .276/.377/.506, 32 HR, 110 RBI, 135 OPS+, .370 wOBA, 53.5 VORP, 6.2 WAR, +8.7 UZR and 1.031 EFF at 3B LF Josh Hamilton, TEX (92-70, 1st ALW) 595 PA, .330/.388/.570, 28 HR, 98 RBI, 155 OPS+, .392 wOBA, 62.1 VORP, 8.0 WAR, +17.5 UZR and 1.107 EFF in LF NL MVP: CF Colby Rasmus, STL (94-68, 1st NLC) 712 PA, .325/.371/.526, 29 HR, 91 RBI, 143 OPS+, .378 wOBA, 66.8 VORP, 8.5 WAR, +17.7 UZR and 1.075 EFF in CF 1B Albert Pujols, STL (94-68, 1st NLC) 582 PA, .332/.436/.676, 43 HR, 116 RBI, 201 OPS+, .454 wOBA, 89.8 VORP, 9.8 WAR, +8.3 UZR and 1.082 EFF at 1B 1B Ryan Howard, PHI (110-52, 1st NLE) 714 PA, .319/.417/.635, 53 HR, 136 RBI, 184 OPS+, .426 wOBA, 85.4 VORP, 9.0 WAR, +4.2 UZR and 1.036 EFF at 1B RHP Tim Lincecum, SF (84-78, 3rd NLW) 18-10, 2.54 ERA, 226.1 IP, 7.56 H/9, 11.21 K/9, 2.23 BB/9, 0.40 HR/9, 2.02 FIP, 9.9 WAR AL Cy Young: LHP Jon Lester, BOS (99-63, 2nd ALE, Wildcard) 14-6, 2.65 ERA, 220.2 IP, 6.69 H/9, 9.95 K/9, 2.28 BB/9, 0.77 HR/9, 2.92 FIP, 6.9 WAR RHP Gio Gonzalez, OAK (83-79, 3rd ALW) 16-7, 2.81 ERA, 208.1 IP, 7.56 H/9, 9.63 K/9, 3.24 BB/9, 0.82 HR/9, 3.56 FIP, 4.5 WAR RHP Clay Buchholz, BOS (99-63, 2nd ALE, Wildcard) 17-6, 3.15 ERA, 214.0 IP, 8.71 H/9, 6.94 K/9, 3.41 BB/9, 0.59 HR/9, 3.62 FIP, 4.7 WAR RHP Justin Masterson, CLE (60-102, 5th ALC) 13-10, 3.11 ERA, 208.2 IP, 8.02 H/9, 8.89 K/9, 3.54 BB/9, 0.43 HR/9, 3.16 FIP, 6.0 WAR NL Cy Young: RHP Roy Halladay, PHI (110-52, 1st NLE) 15-6, 2.32 ERA, 182.0 IP, 7.62 H/9, 8.21 K/9, 1.38 BB/9, 0.49 HR/9, 2.54 FIP, 7.4 WAR LHP Cole Hamels, PHI (110-52, 1st NLE) 21-7, 2.96 ERA, 222.1 IP, 7.89 H/9, 8.54 K/9, 1.86 BB/9, 1.01 HR/9, 3.36 FIP, 6.7 WAR RHP Tim Lincecum, SF (84-78, 3rd NLW) 18-10, 2.54 ERA, 226.1 IP, 7.56 H/9, 11.21 K/9, 2.23 BB/9, 0.40 HR/9, 2.02 FIP, 9.9 WAR LHP Cliff Lee, PHI (110-52, 1st NLE) 17-9, 2.80 ERA, 231.1 IP, 8.83 H/9, 7.04 K/9, 1.28 BB/9, 0.66 HR/9, 3.01 FIP, 8.0 WAR AL Rookie of the Year: RHP Kyle Drabek, TOR (84-78, 4th ALE) 11-8, 3.99 ERA, 158.0 IP, 9.11 H/9, 7.58 K/9, 2.16 BB/9, 0.96 HR/9, 3.81 FIP, 3.7 WAR 2B Dustin Ackley, SEA (78-84, 4th ALW) 335 PA, .314/.361/.485, 9 HR, 51 RBI, 126 OPS+, .358 wOBA, 23.6 VORP, 2.0 WAR, -3.8 UZR and .975 EFF at 2B 2B/SS Tsuyoshi Nishioka, MIN (74-88, 3rd ALC) 636 PA, .294/.380/.404, 8 HR, 63 RBI, 112 OPS+, .345 wOBA, 36.3 VORP, 3.8 WAR, +1.2 UZR and 1.002 EFF at 2B and SS LF Chris Carter, OAK (83-79, 3rd ALW) 203 PA, .286/.361/.602, 15 HR, 46 RBI, 159 OPS+, .412 wOBA, 21.2 VORP, 1.1 WAR, -10.0 UZR and .850 EFF in LF NL Rookie of the Year: 1B/RF Brandon Belt, SF (84-78, 3rd NLW) 588 PA, .294/.371/.418, 13 HR, 46 RBI, 116 OPS+, .340 wOBA, 21.1 VORP, 2.2 WAR, 18 SB, +0.7 UZR and 1.000 EFF at 1B and RF RHP Jordan Lyles, HOU (73-89, 4th NLC) 8-8, 3.13 ERA, 126.2 IP, 9.38 H/9, 5.47 K/9, 3.06 BB/9, 0.58 HR/9, 3.78 FIP, 2.6 WAR 1B Freddie Freeman, ATL (79-83, 3rd NLE) 576 PA, .326/.373/.517, 21 HR, 79 RBI, 142 OPS+, .375 wOBA, 43.1 VORP, 4.1 WAR, -2.1 UZR and .977 EFF at 1B Rank each award and I’ll post the results at the end. Hamilton, Longoria, A-Rod for AL MVP.
Longoria/A-Rod is fascinating. What do you care more about? Defensive ability which is Longoria, or Homeruns which is A-Rod? Because aside from that their lines are almost identical.

yeah, traditionalist stat guys would love a year like that from ARod and it was a fantastic year for a 36-yo player, but his WAR rating was 9th in the AL and his defense by every measure was god-awful. Longoria was leading the AL in WAR at the All-Star break and then tanked in the second-half, otherwise he would have been the clear MVP. Like I said, I had Hamilton winning the award...if the dude could just stay healthy.
