By the way, what's with the historical exhibition mode not having the DH enabled, even in post-'73 AL parks?

I like the fact that we can edit Draft, and IAFA budgets!

The first thing I did was to load up a 1932 historical game with real minors. My typical default historical mode is neutralized stats and no recalc, BUT warning, it appears that neutralized stats will not work in historical minors. Virtually all pitchers have a stamina of 20. I think this is because neutralized stats are only applicable to major league seasons. Here's an example (I just happened to look at the PCL first, as I want to play with the Portland Beavers): Herman Pillette from the Mission Reds in 1932. He pitched in the majors in 1917, and again from 1922-24. He has neutralized stats from 1917-1924, including the gap years. After his major league tenure, he went to the minors from 1925 through 1945. For those years, he has ONLY real stats. I'm going to create the same 1932 game now with real stats and see what I get. Just wanted to put this out there for anyone else interested in historical minors, which is the GREATEST addition to the game yet, IMHO. Thanks all.

Another one: What is the Age column supposed to mean? Is the header wrong, or the values, or what happens there?

Edit: Maybe it'd also be nice to include the team's season number as part of its name. Just run a 92 Blue Jays vs 93 Blue Jays and it is quite confusing to read things like "The Blue Jays lead the series" without any clue which team is the one leading.

Edit 2: Now for some reason running 92 Blue Jays against 15 Blue Jays it includes the year.
About the age, please post in the bug report forum about this, plus which teams you exactly selected.

The new gm screens are very cool. I am interested to see all the different gm types in the game.

Love the ability to easily create matchups from historical teams. Recreating the 1966 World Series, my O's lost game 1 though to Sandy Koufax and the Dodgers. O's did score two in the bottom of the ninth and had the tie run on base.

The 3d is working perfectly on the mac. And there is a real difference between hard hit balls and lazy fly balls. Well done so far!!

immediate first take

Without doing much (poking around the menus) of anything thus far, here's my immediate first take:

1. fast, vibrant (eye pleasing) and better organized.

Not sure if this is new or just a complete swing and a miss by me in previous years, but I love how if you forget to enable commissioner mode, you don't have to go to managers to create a new human manger to get into commissioner mode.

1:12 p.m.
Upon further review: some screen are a little too black and white but then again maybe that's better on the eyes, who knows. Not a big issue.

Will be back with more throughout the day.

3:11 p.m.

Had to invalidate a simulation test because I got interrupted and also the way I set the sim it was stopped for my email. It did allow me to discover a piece of comedy though: I love how the All-star Ballot actually says "not official until submitted." If I'm setting up a real ballot I put that there. If I'm programming a game, I personally would have overlooked that detail.

I'm probably going to notice things that have been around forever just because for so long I have only played the game one way.

1:00 p.m.
Just simmed 2016 regular season with default save settings in about 16 minutes. Have to look back at some details. Had a good race in NL West. Pads Win. A couple of run always: Cubs win in a landslide. Yanks win top wild card seed. angels Rangers tie.

5:11 p.m.

Well, this was going to be more frequent than it turned out but, here's a second simulation. I had to the checkbox on to stop the sim for messages so no time report as it was obviously scewed.

Here's the second sim of 2016, def. different results:

The game definitely feels lighter and tighter, which I like.

The 'graphics' for the 3d mode are actually surprisingly immersive; I really appreciate them. There are some tiny bugs with scripting of the pbp vs. on field events, but I'm sure those will be tightened up. I really like the post-game recaps. And I'll be real; the win-probability graph with key events absolutely blew me away. I love it!

I must say OOTP17 installed the game so much faster than before. It also imported my OOTP 16 Game super fast. looks like everything is great in my imported game Now it's time to mess around with it.

Thanks for this new version of the game to help pass my life away.

Something on your system messes with OOTP it seems. Please reboot, shut everything down in the background and try again. If it does not work, file a support ticket, please. No idea what's going on for you.

You guys continue to do spectacular work. I'll continue to pre-order until the day I die. The team needs page on the trading block is wonderful. The game simulates even faster than last year, as advertised. Every year I'm amazed at the improvements.

Thanks to everyone who had a hand in the new version for the endless hours of enjoyment I will receive from this game.

Can someone talk about the speed? Is it noticeably different for shop a player and beyond?

2015 Historical Series has the record for White Sox and Cubs flipped. Will check to see if the players are flipped too.

Love the 3D, it just adds a different feel. I don't think I am going back to text only.

Good job OOTP, really a mile stone year for this great piece of software.

Yeah I did too and no email yet. I'm guessing they're still coming out and we're just the last ones.
