Player stopped learning new position
Hey guys,
I'm trying to get LF Michael Reed to learn CF. Using the Positional rating calculator, he should go up to a 50. However, he seemed to have stopped learning the position at 21. Why is that ? Also, why is he a 23 at LF considering his range, arm and error ratings ? Thanks! |

Typically, when learning a position, players hit a "wall" of sorts where they build up their defensive rating more slowly, especially when moving up the difficulty ladder (i.e. infielders learning SS and outfielders learning CF).
As for his LF rating being so low, it's possible that his card doesn't ship with 200/200 in positional experience in LF. Unfortunately, he's not in the card database so there's no way to tell. |

Some players can take many seasons to reach their potential.
In 19, I tried to train Vlad Jr. to 1B and he was still not fully trained after 3-4 seasons. I learned my lesson....only re-train players that have good infield/outfield abilities or players that will be around many seasons from now.

I never try to train anybody to a more difficult position. I only train SS and CF to other positions except for 3b to 1B, Of course this is personal preference and as such should be taken with a grain of salt.

What people are saying seems to be true, anecdotally:
- There's a training wall where things slow down, but they keep going - Higher skill defenders train faster - Future Legends seem to train slower Trust the calculator within 2 points. I don't think it's ever failed. |

If his maximum achievable rate has not been achieved yet, he should continue to get better as you play him in that position. In other words, if his LF rating is not yet achieved he will continue to go up as you play him in LF. If his CF rating is below his max, he will also still move up as long as he plays that position. He won’t get unless you play him in that position. While most players have their max rating for their primary position, I believe there are cards where players have multiple positions but but they are not at their max hence they can still move up.

Normally I agree, but then I got this card in a pack. Definitely seems worthy of training as SS.

94 at SS? What a scrub! He is certainly no Jeter...

lol
Speaking of Jeter, he's my starting SS for now. His defense at SS is a whopping 42!
Anyone have a link to this positional rating calculator? Edit: I think I found it https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...khc/edit#gid=0

With those defensive ratings I'd say he'd reach about 70 at left field. In 19 it took about 2.5 seasons to learn new positions, so this is a very long term thing to attempt. Imo not worth it on a 57, only a long term starter.
But yeah he will definitely go higher with those ratings. Be patient. |

WAIT. You're trying to make him learn center field! Just stop. 50 at centerfield is as bad as 23. You want at least 80+ range for centerfield or else just put him at left or DH.

I got that Sabo card in my starter pack too, plan on moving him to SS for sure. 95 range is a really high bar...91 is pretty dang good, when combined with the elite other ratings and great bat AND baserunning. Perfect fit for gap power & speed based teams. That'll play.
