PRESEASON PREDICTIONS

Uh-oh.

The owner expects a World Series and the writers are calling for us to finish 5th in a very tight AL East. 80-82.

They expect the Red Sox, Angels, Cardinals, and Astros to make the play-offs.

AL Top Hitter: Wade Boggs, Royals (#4 Paul Molitor, #10 Ken Phelps)
AL Top Pitcher: Mark Langston, Royals (#4 Nolan Ryan)

NL Top Hitter: Will Clark, Expos
NL Top Pitcher: Dwight Gooden, Astros

Our system isn't bad, ranking #11.
Our top prospect is Lawrence Leveret, who came in the Daniel Peters trade, at #11. He will start the season at A-ball.

As bad as losing 11-3 to the Royals was, the real bad news was Ryne Sandberg leaving the game with a partially torn labrum. It looks like he will miss the next six weeks.

Hunter Myers homered for Toronto.

WP - Danny Cox (1-0)
LP - Dave Stieb (0-1)

Record - 0-2

What should have been a great match-up between Mark Langston and Nolan Ryan was interrupted by a 95 minute rain delay in the 5th. Ultimately the Royals were better able to get to the Toronto bullpen and beat them 5-1.

Lee Yandell homered for the only Toronto run.

LP - Nolan Ryan (2-2)
