Advice for international spending
I just got to my first international spending period in 2014 (other than the leftovers I picked up in March/April) and I need some advice. Should I go crazy and sign every player that will end up a stud and take the penalties next year? Should I keep under the spending limit and just grab solid guys and maybe one potentially great player?
What do you guys do? |

It's my policy to go nuts, but that's me.

It depends largely, in my opinion, on how badly you need the prospects. International amateurs tend to flame out, even more than draft picks do, and you can easily see your $3 million+ go up in smoke. However, sometimes, they're absolutely mind-boggling.
If you don't think you'll need free agents, it's not a bad investment, and it's only a one year payment, which is also nice. |

And, you can use some of them for trading purposes later on, so you can't set a fixed budget for them, just follow what appears valuable at the time.

I just decided to say screw the cap. I've currently got $18 million out on offers right now. I'll take the hit next year. I'm probably going to try and trade some of the new guys for major leaguers or major league ready prospects.
