I'm going to go much more slowly than in 19. There's plenty of time this year because we get a full year instead of just 4-5 months. Moving slowly lets me get attached to different cards on the way up, something that I missed in 19, when there were so many must-have cards on every team. 20 seems to have fixed that.

I see the entire PT year as a journey, not a race to the top. When you get to the top, it seems to become a lot more boring.
The extra time makes it less necessary to invest money into the game. Investing money will lessen your enjoyment by advancing your team too quickly.

I love having a just packs team. I use guys i wouldn't normallly use. Otherwise i might have three teams rhat are carbon copies of each other. Let the gods decide my team.

Ha, I just checked in and I'm 1st in runs with a 7-6 record. Carlos Carrasco in particular has a lot of 'splainin to do. We're 28th in ERA, I need a better 4 and 5 too.

Only a half game out in the division though, so that's something. Better than I'm doing in my historical game where I'm sitting here with the second most runs in 1902 and we're 37-44.

EDIT: had enough for a pack, got another gold card, so now my 7th-8th-9th innings are Kahle-O'Day-Minter, which I'm feeling reasonably good about.

That's what I learned last season. You can pretend to be a whale in the lower levels by spending $30, but then you get to perfect and you have to spend 10-100 times that much to compete.

My Laurelton Corsairs hit Bronze on the strength of their bullpen but their offense is pretty laughable and the bullpen will likely be also if they get promoted to Silver too quick. Queens County Reavers and NYC Subway Rats are in the same Iron league and were off to fair starts after a week of play, 3-2 and 4-2 respectively when I left for work today. All three are packs only for now, probably check the AH out in a couple of weeks for upgrades to positions where I've had poor pulls.

That may have been the optimal strategy, a full week of entry pool points and a promotion to Iron next week as a starting point. I wish I had exercised more patience and followed that path.

One of my teams somehow made it into Silver this week with a lackluster FTP, pack only roster and I think I am about to have a very long week.

I didn't want to be at the head of the wave of promotions where all you have to do is finish in the top 16 of 30 teams to be promoted all the way to perfect. That leaves a lot of teams that can't compete up there and may have trouble getting relegated as well. I want to battle my way to the top when all the league levels are full. I think it'll be a lot more satisfying.

Raccoons found that one right next to the sticky piece of second-hand gum. That looks like a card that might do damage.

Sell or keep? Last5 value is 28k. That is a whole bunch of packs. I have never pulled a historical diamond+.

And I will be seriously conflicted having to root for a Gnat to make this card a perfect one.

If you can get close to 28k I'd sell. I for one don't really think he's going to get moved up to 100 with live ratings update, and even if he did that's still only 20k pp guaranteed later. I think he's going to settle in more like the 12-15k range

The B'sin'Glou Double Agents are in Iron this week and currently travelling at 8-8.

In PT 1.0 my strategy was to build a balanced team with more emphasis on pitching and defense.

In PT 2.0 my strategy is to fill the team with sluggers who walk a lot. Defense be damned! (And pitching too, at the moment)

My PT 1 and PT 2 strategies match yours exactly. I got tired of losing 2-1 and thought it might be nice to lose 10-9 for a change.

I started all 3 teams on Friday (clearly I lack foresight) and managed to get one each into Iron, Bronze, and Silver. The team in Silver is my pack-only team, which has so far netted 4 gold hitters among starter packs, gold pack and subsequent packs (FL Tatis Jr, Live Trea Turner, HH Eric Chavez, AS Giancarlo Stanton) and trash pitching. Currently sitting at 9-10, so I guess it could be worse. Hoping I manage to not be in the top 16, because it's only going to be more painful if that squad moves up.

Didn't play OOTP 19 so this is my first experience with PT. Finished 4th out of 60 in the entry pool so I got placed in silver but now I'm getting obliterated by p2w teams. Still fun though. The only negative thing is that my team is so bad that I didn't even earn 100 PP on the 1st day and I have the worst record in the entire league (7-18). Looks like it'll be a tough fight against relegation.

Relegation could be good for your team, but it is early, you may not be as bad as you think.

get relegated then you can build up a PP base.

pretty silly that its better to be in lower levels but thats how it is if you arent just going to buy all your points. I put myself into iron and had a 27 run win yesterday that got me 4K PP

Does not look like Soto can be moved for 28k anymore. They are not even moving for 20k now. Hmz.

Raccoons are 19-14, but have few standouts in Bronze. Jose Quintana threw back-to-back shutouts, one a Maddux. Apart from that… not a whole lot going on.

My free team is under .500 in Bronze and still lacks pitching above all else…

Boy am I streaky. Since the start of the season here are the runs I've gone on: 4-0, 2-6, 12-3, 0-6, 6-3. 0-6.

It is well early, but it looks like the Coons will make it to Silver this week, while the pack-only pauper team very much won't.
