32, 36, or 40 team league

Hi! This is my first post on the OOTP 15 forums board. I am from Belzoni, MS where I live with my father, an 81-year old Korean War veteran with one Silver Star and three Bronze Stars who is suffering from Parkinson's disease.

I am planning to purchase the game in the future, and I am wanting to start my own league with the current 30 MLB teams plus some expansion teams. I am wanting to know if it is best if I have a 32 team league, a 36 team league, or a 40 team league? I'm probably leaning towards either 32 or 36. If any can help me, please let me know. Any comments, suggestions, or ideas are welcome.

There really is no "best" size for a league.

Things to keep in mind:

The larger the league, the larger the league file will become over time. Depending on your system, it may slow the game a little when playing as the amount of data it has to process, write, and save increases.

The beauty of OOTP is its customization. You have the ability to create almost any type of league your imagination can come up with.

If you haven't played OOTP at all in the past, I'd suggest creating a small fictional league at first and run it for a few seasons to get a feel for the game. This will give you a better idea of the games capabilities and how big you wish to get.

Cheers

Best wishes to your Dad.

And our thanks to him as well. To you too, JBB, for taking good care of him! I don't know if he'd be interested in OOTPB but it can certainly be therapeutic for you, speaking from my own experiences.

What I meant to say was, I wanted to do expansion teams for the American League and National League, each of which have 15 teams, for a total of 30 teams. Do you think I should have 2 16-team leagues, 2 18-team leagues, or 2 20-team leagues?

Two 20 team leagues sounds incredibly cumbersome to me. I'd max it at 36, but start with 32 in order to expand. Or lower and come up to 32.
