League Time Per Sim: 1 week per sim during regular season, Off-season schedule set out by Commissioner via email
First Season: 1952
Latest Season: We have just concluded the 1991 post-season.

The BSBL is a competitive OOTP league played at a relaxed pace using fictional players. We have an active forum, lots of trading, and an engaged set of owners. This upcoming season, 1992, is our 40th anniversary season - so come join the fun! You would be taking over the Omaha Bombers franchise. The Bombers were one of the league powerhouses in the late '70's to early '80's, making the playoffs several times and winning the championship in '81. However, the Bombers have been stuck in rebuilding mode since. This is to your benefit - though Omaha finished below .500 in this last season, the Bombers feature two of the league's top 20 pitchers (one of whom just completed his rookie season), the #4 ranked farm system, and enough budget room to add major free agents. Combined with playing in what is currently the league's weakest division and you have an opportunity to quickly build a playoff caliber team!

We communicate via an email list and a forum and conduct our draft via StatsLab. If you are interested in joining the league, please email me and the Commissioner at the email addresses above. We are only just entering the off-season, so if you join now, you will be able to set arbitration amounts, participate in the Rule 5 draft, and not miss out on the beginning of free agency.

The BSBL just wrapped up its 1994 postseason and we now have openings for 3 new owners. The following three teams are up for grabs:

San Jose Owls: Under its last owner, the Owls finally became a competitive force in the BSBL. Powered by exceptional pitching and defense, the Owls made the playoffs in 1991 and again in this just ended season, 1994. If you'd like to jump in and be immediately competitive, San Jose is the team for you! Your challenge - can you pilot the Owls to consecutive playoff appearances for the first time in team history? Can you upgrade the Owls' offense enough to advance out of the first round of the playoffs in team history?

San Diego Breakers: The Breakers made the playoffs 5 years in a row from 1987-1991, but each of those playoff runs ended at the hands of one of the three teams that have dominated the Pacific Coast League of the BSBL for the last 10 seasons, Hollywood, Long Beach, and Seattle. To overcome these rivals, San Diego undertook a major rebuilding effort that you now get to take advantage of. The Breakers have the BSBL's #1 ranked farm system. The Breakers also have a young rotation of recently graduated prospects who are on the verge of dominating the league, the BSBL's best centerfielder, second best catcher, and a reliable, if aging closer. I think the Breakers can make the playoffs this season - are you the owner who can put them over the top?

Oklahoma 89ers: Oklahoma was one of the titans of the BSBL when the league first started. The 89ers made the playoffs every year from 1952-54, lost in the championship round in 1956, and finally won the title in 1957. The 89ers made the playoffs again in 1959, getting swept, and that sweep ended the golden age of Oklahoma baseball. The 89ers have made the playoffs twice since then ('86 and '91), but if you take on the 89ers, your biggest job will be turning around this once proud franchise. The 89ers have the BSBL's #5 farm system and hold the #1 pick in next season's draft, but the major league team does not have a lot of talent. If you are interested in building up a team from near scratch - this is the team for you!

If you are interested in any of these openings, email me (the deputy commissioner) and Jordan (the commissioner) at the email addresses listed in the first post of this thread. We are only just in the off-season now, so if you join soon, you will get a chance to leap in to signing free agents, making rule 5 draft picks, and trading with other owners! Join today!

San Jose is still available. We’re going to move to OOTP 19 after this season, so if you still have 17 and want to jump in now, join us! There’s still time to sign free agents and make some trades to put your stamp on the team. With much of San Jose’s division looking to rebuild, this is a great opportunity to join a team that can be a real playoff contender right off the bat!

We're at opening day and San Jose is still available. The most recent preseason prediction report has San Jose missing the playoffs by a single game. With you at the helm, perhaps signing that one last free agent or making a key trade, the Owls have a good shot at making the playoffs! If you want to join, let me know ASAP!
