Sorry. No, there actually was a UA league but i had messed it up and it was recording the stats as 1883, not 1884 and it was a pain to set up and some of the stats weren't on par with what they should have been. So, I just basically let it run its course and then released everyone @ the end of season, available to play wherever.

Roger Connor's Triple Crown Seasons

1882

BATTING AVERAGE
(1) Connor, COL .324
(2) Glasscock, NYM .311
(3) Irwin, PHA .301

HOME RUNS
(1) Connor, COL 14
(2) Burdock, BAL 8
(3) Hecker, LOU 7

RUNS BATTED IN
(1) Connor, COL 79
(2) Glasscock, NYM 77
(3) Wood, CIN 77

Despite playing on a Columbus Buckeyes team that finished with a record of 37-60, good for 7th & 24 games out of 1st, Connor pounded the ball all year long and was rewarded with professional baseball's 1ST EVER TRIPLE CROWN!

1883

BATTING AVERAGE
(1) Connor, TOL .339
(2) Hecker, LOU .330
(3) Hotaling, PHA .329

HOME RUNS
(1) Connor, TOL 13
(1) Ewing, LOU 13
(1) Sneed, IND 13

RUNS BATTED IN
(1) Connor, TOL 96
(2) Phillips, IND 89
(3) Ewing, LOU 88

After not re-signing with Columbus, Connor took his talents to newly formed Toledo Blue Stockings. Despite boosting his numbers in 2 of the 3 categories, that didn't help the case of his team as they compiled a 51-59 record, a dysmal 9th place finish. A historic FEAT as Roger Connor captures back to back Triple Crowns. He now takes his talents onto the Brooklyn Grays, can he do it again?

Awesome read so far, really look forward to this one. Great to see how things go, compared to some of the leagues I have run. Nice work.

Thanks, I'm trying to get back into this more frequently. Also, provide some more depth into some of the players.

1885 End of May: National League & American Association

The upstart Maroons are shocking the rest of the league thus far, but it is very early on. Boston's quest for a 3rd straight World Series is off to an uneasy start. 2nd year player Dick Johnston is pacing the league in both HR & RBI, while only batting a measly .244.

Hits: Fred Dunlap (CHI), Dave Orr (NYG), John Reilly (PRO) 34

HR: Dick Johnston (SLM) 6
RBI: Dick Johnston (SLM) 26
Runs: George Pinkney (SLM) 26
SB: Billy Sunday (SLM) 15

Pitching Leaders

K's: Tim Keefe (PIT) 98

Injuries
NONE

Various News & Notes
5/8: It was a career defining day out there on the diamond today for Brooklyn catcher Billy Taylor as he hit for the cycle. Taylor doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, slugged a solo homer in the 4th, and roped an RBI triple in the 5th! Within 5 innings, Taylor would HIT FOR THE CYCLE. A groundout in the 7th and fly out in the 9th would give Taylor a 4 for 6 game.
5/12: Pittsburgh catcher Ecky Stearns went 0 for 4 thus ending his hitting at 31 GAMES, 4th longest ever.

Shutouts

5 hit games
5/22: BRO 2B Ross Barnes (5 for 6, 2 2B, 3 RBI in 18-1 win over LOU)

1885 End of July: National League & American Association

A familiar sight as once again the Boston Beaneaters are sitting atop the NL standings, althought it is a VERY close race behind them as the 6th place Giants only sit 7 games out of 1st place. In fact, 6 of the 8 teams in the league are sitting above .500 with only Detroit & lowly Providence being under that bar. The 3rd place Quakers have been carried by the pitching of Charlie Ferguson and his 23 wins, nobody else on the team possesses more than 6 wins.

Batting Leaders
BA: Dave Orr (NYG) .368
Hits: Dave Orr (NYG) 105
2B: Abner Dalrymple (BOS), Emil Gross (PHI) 18
3B: Dan Brouthers (BOS) 9
HR: Dick Johnston (SLM) 13
RBI: Jerry Denny (NYG) 69
Runs: Hugh Nicol (CHI) 70
SB: Billy Sunday (SLM) 43

Pitching Leaders
ERA: Charlie Ferguson (PHI) 2.15
Wins: Charlie Ferguson (PHI) 23
Losses: Ed Conley (PRO) 21
SHO: Charlie Ferguson (PHI), Charlie Getzien (DET) 2
K's: Ed Conley (PRO) 149

Injuries
BOS- RF Tom Brown (broken kneecap, 4-5 months)
NYG- CF Fred Mann (fractured elbow, 8 months)

Various News & Notes
7/8: An astonishing 6 for 7 game by Philadelphia C Emil Gross as his Quakers thumped Detroit 24-6. 5 singles and 1 double with an RBI were among the highlights of this excellent effort.
7/17: As if it wasn't already a dreadful season for the Providence Grays, their "veteran" leader 39 year old 3B Levi Meyerle was given a 7 GAME suspension for a profanity laced tirade after questionable umpiring decisions. He compared the "umps" to puppets on strings as they make calls as they hear the dollar signs, what is Meyerle proposing is happening? Bribery? Surely Not?

Shutouts

5 hit games
7/8: BOS 1B Dan Brouthers (5 for 5, 2 HR, 3 RBI in 13-2 W vs. BUF)
7/11: CHI CF John O'Rourke (5 for 6, RBI in 18-1 W vs. PRO)
7/17: NYG SS Mike Moynahan (5 for 5, 2B, 2 RBI in 17-12 L vs. BOS)

Led by standout offensive star Ross Barnes, the Brooklyn Grays have been the class of the Association so far. But, the Baltimore Orioles have been chipping away led by the bats of Oyster Burns and George Wood and the pitching of surprising rookie Shorty Wetzel who holds a 16-3 record in 23 games. IF the club from Louisville wants to repeat, they better step up their level of play pretty soon as they sit in 3rd, but 9.5 games out of 1st.

Batting Leaders
BA: Ross Barnes (BRO) .380
Hits: Ross Barnes (BRO) 123
2B: Tom Burns (PIT) 26
3B: FOUR tied with 9
HR: Buck Ewing (LOU) 11
RBI: George Wood (BAL) 70
Runs: Jim McTamany (BRO) 71
SB: Piggy Ward (STL) 34

Pitching Leaders
ERA: Stump Wiedman (BRO) 1.39
Wins: Tim Keefe (PIT) 23
Losses: George Pechiney (CIN) 26
SHO: Mike Golden (LOU), Charlie Hilsey (NYM) 3
K's: Tim Keefe (PIT) 219

Injuries
BAL- OF Oyster Burns (seperated shoulder, 3 weeks)

Various News & Notes
7/6: This will be the final year for 39 year old Baltimore 1B Everett Mills as he has announced his intent to retire at seasons end. He has been around the game since the 1871 National Association, Mills has played in 757 games compiling a .271 batting average with 811 hits.

Shutouts

5 hit games
NONE
