You seen what they did to the pro scene? Big yikes from me.

Don't do that, OOTP. Please.

Here's a related exploit that someone in my PL has used to lead his division. The "Oh no, please don't load up all your RHB vs. my LHPs" strategy. I've seen it work to get to a PL World Series (I think they lost) because you have to be watching the games closely to use the 7-day lineup to counter it, and even then not many rosters have LHB that crush LHP ready to go.

He could do even better having several RHP in his bullpen to shift into the rotation for road games. I'm surprised that it doesn't look like he's doing that with Carrasco/Paxton.

There's supposed to be AI improvements to counter these strategies in the game, too. Will be interesting to see how they work

I'm all for adopting Hearthstone's 'pity timer'. Cracking hundreds upon hundreds of packs without a single perfect feels pretty awful.

Or pulling the same perfect over and over again.

Given the GIANT load of Iron I currently harvest ANY perfect would be fine with me.....

There are more models for this than just Hearthstone too, so there isn't just the one way to skin this cat. For example, Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms has its own unique pity timer system for the upgrade of silver chests to gold (roughly analogous to packs here) as well as gear cards pulled from the chests.

Theoretically, changes like this could help counter (or at least begin to mitigate) the fact that less competitive teams earn significantly less achievements and points at higher levels, thereby acting as a promotion penalty.

I don't see how this is an exploit. Looks like "tactic" or "strategy" to me. That's the beauty of being able to change your ballpark .. you can make it fit to the players you have, to get the most out of them. Hes not deceiving anyone, ballparks get locked in after the first few days ... you know when you play him that's how he set his players/ballpark. Normally teams do it the opposite .. with all right handed bats and right handed pitchers because its easier to accomplish. Just do your due diligence in scouting out teams to know how they set their roster and ballpark.

What is the additional level? Something above perfect?

Below Bronze called Iron. It does make Perfect further away.

I placed my pre-order. Don't forget that you get a free gold pack if you buy the game in the first week and activate your perfect team.

I am happy with the new level being added and hope it will reserve the top level for the teams that really deserve to be up there.

My main team has risen to Perfect right now and has no place up there. I over achieved at the lower levels and really belong there. My team only gets points when I have ended a losing streak at this level.

I have much more fun with my 70-79 team and my Tigers Only theme team at the lower levels where they are competitive and hope the 2020 iteration will keep fostering the lower tiers.

I picked up my pre-order during the live broadcast Monday night. $38.15 with sales tax. Best $40 I've spent since the last $49.99 I spent last week lol!

The 2nd gold pack is a nice value added gift. I'm going to save up a little loot and get up and running in spring training in a few short weeks. I like the idea of an all great lakes team and plan to field my main team with just players from those cities.

Time to wheel and deal!

I'm excited for the tournaments and card collecting. I like the idea of exclusive cards for winners/finishers. I've definitely learned a lot from the few months of playing PT in 19 but I'm excited about starting over. And since we'll be able to play 20 for a full cycle, I'm going to be taking things slowly this time around so I can get the most entertainment out of it.

One thing I was thinking about are the new live cards. I have to imagine that they're going to be close to identical to the current live cards, since no games have been played since they were created. Is there any indication about how often the live cards will change values?

I will be sticking with PT 1.0, primarily out of annoyance that the company is attempting to render the game obsolete just a couple of months after its initial official release. Nothing burns me out more quickly on pay-to-win incremental games than constantly moving goalposts. If 1.0 turns dead in a few months, I'll just go back to Digital Diamond Baseball for my BB sim entertainment.

It's going to be very interesting to see what happens. I think segmenting the player base (which is already small) will be a huge mistake. PT should be a persistent league regardless of OOTP version.

This was known since day 1 of PT. I'm not sure why there are so many surprised people.

This isn't a conspiracy. The sheer volume of what the servers are handling (400+ leagues and 12000+ teams) simply can't be allowed to grow infinitely. I'm fairly certain part of the discussion about abandoned teams was solved as well if the leagues started over from time to time.

The game is the same price it was before ($40) and the Perfect team points are optional, so there is little reason to suggest one is being forced to do anything. It's simply another option.

I will keep my PT1 team going - probably until I either lose interest or it becomes obvious I'm playing abandoned teams. I'll do the same for my PT2 team(s) and the ones that follow. I've spent $91 (game plus PPs) on my team so far, and if I spend $90-$125 per team per year in the future, it's still an entertainment-level expense. (That's about $10 a month).
