Check my spreadsheet here and sort by FIP on the SP tab. It is remarkably a pretty solid formula for general ranking of pitchers. I haven't compared to actual performance in awhile, but the eyeball test sees some good matches.

I won a PT title last season with a rotation ranked between 11 (Kevin Brown) and 28 (Maddux 94).

Also, another good rule of thumb is that the pitcher will likely cost $40K+. The AH is pretty good at setting prices and nearly all the top 30ish pitchers are above that threshold (although prices are dropping fast due to 20 coming soon).

I have seen Seaver used as a closer at the perfect level and he performed very well. ERA less than 1 and 45+ saves

i use Sale and deGrom in the bullpen at perfect level with good results.

yes, there are better options with diamond starters but sometimes when you need to swap out a reliever, sale/degrom are good stopgaps.

Yup, I'm definitely moving toward the idea that starters will generally make the best relievers. I've been judging them all purely on their STU+MOV+CON ratings without considering that the extra Stamina is letting them pitch more, pitch longer, and pitch more effectively than a RP with similar ratings. So, some of those guys that are just below the top tier of Perfect starters may be excellent bullpen arms. My 97 Randy Johnson has gone from a high 4 ERA SP to a solid 3.00, inning eating reliever.

I agree with you about Johnson I use the 97 the same way. also use 92 kershaw as middle relief. and I use Tim Lincecum as a stopper.

toying with idea of using the all-star keuchel as a closer....maybe next week.

thanks for posting the spreadsheet...it has made me rethink a bunch of things. very helpful.
