Strategy?
I'm new to this game, and I'm having a hard time winning. I'm using the Pirates (controlling every game Cole pitches) so I'm not expecting to dominate, but winning 50% of my games and scoring some runs would be nice. For the most part I just hit Swing and Pitch. What else is there to do? Any recommendations for the strategy tab under my team?

Well are you stealing bases at all? Also I will sometimes "take pitch" until I get a strike, or even 2 if the guy doesn't strike out much in hopes of getting a walk or driving up the opposing SP pitch count.
Also if there is a guy in scoring posittion and their #3/4 hitter comes up and 1B is open, use "pitch around" so they are less likely to get a hit, but you are more likely to walk them. Don't do this if they have a really good hitter behind them though. |

Personally, if I manage games, I like to be aggressive when I get guys on base. I like to hit and run, squeeze bunt, whatever. If you have a fast guy on and the opposing catcher has a weak arm, that's always a good time to steal a base.
Just explore the options the game gives you. That's the best advice I've got. |

Just like in real baseball, pitching and defense win you games.
Try to match-up against the pitchers and the teams. If you are playing the marlins for instance, you can pretty much pitch with your 4th or 5th starter. |

Strong pitching with one speedy guy, one singles type hitter followed by one or two power guys will help.

be agressive and check and recheck lineups and check FA reports and wavier wire in effort to beef up your team I always go for pitching first then good defensive players with terrific Offensive numbers too .... then you will see what happens

Waiver wire? Do you mean the Trading Block? I'm not aware of a Waiver Wire in iOOTP.
