Talking New Fictional League...Shortly

If anyone is interested in a fictional league, I'm going to put one together over the next week and will look to get it started over my spring break (the bulk of my schoolwork will be done *sighs happily* but, still, this will be a methodical process - want to do it right, ya' know.

Here is the premise:

The Atlantic, Appalachian, & Ohio Baseball League

est.1948

(o) 16 Teams in 2 Leagues; Currently The Colonial League and the Mountain & Valley League

(o) Use of financials, vote on cap
(o) Fictional players, but the occasional Major League star and/or rookie will make an appearance.

(o) Use of scouts, coaches, and managers
(o) More to come...

<a href="http://www.nmc79.com/1946" target="_blank">AAO'48</a>

*League rules will be posted soon...and I will keep this thread updated as I put things together. Just wanted to lay it out there. Current team locations are listed below: if you are interested, just leave your email and team you might want (we'll start with an intro draft)...or a location, keeping with the general idea, as well as team name that you'd like.

COLONIAL LEAGUE
- Williamsburg (VA)
- Jersey (NJ)
- New Britain (CT)
- York (PA)
- Schenectedy (NY)
- Bangor (ME)
- Dover (DE)
- Lowell (MA)

MOUNTAIN & VALLEY
- Muscle Shoals (AL)
- Oak Ridge (TN)
- Cairo (IL)
- Lexington (KY)
- Wheeling (WV)
- Muncie (IN)
- Rolla (MO)
- Asheville (NC)

I'd love to join - looks like a great idea for a league.

My order of preference...

1) Lowell - love the new team name!
2) Williamsburg

--Edited because someone seems to really want Williamsburg - if it fudges things up too badly than my original request of Williamsburg would be great. --

You bastard - why do you need Williamsburg, when you're in Columbus, and I'm in Richmond?

If Dover remains unclaimed, and you can accommodate me, I'd be willing to take it. cubsfan915 AT attbi.com ...

Edited to add the smiley to show TheMike I wasn't serious...

erm, i picked dover with the 2nd reply. because it is also the name of a place in the UK!

but i don't mind changing. you can be dover and i'll take New Britain. probably a more appropriate choice anyway

I'm working on a league file during my free time as well as a basic website, check

<a href="http://www.nmc79.com/AAO/AAO.htm" target="_blank">AAO'48</a>

Complete team names list & extra info (I'll fill in as I complete it, mostly just some fluff and to give an idea of home parks etc.:

COLONIAL LEAGUE

Williamsburg Virginians: With a name that reflects the pride of the Old Dominion, they will inaugurate 1948 in Penninsula Park located just outside of Williamsburg, VA. The stadium will be among the coziest in the AAO - a boon to hitters, a nightmare for pitchers.

Schenectedy Mohawks:Upstate NY representatives, 'Mohawk Nation' will cheer their team on at Schenectedy Municipal Stadium, among the league's more balanced sites, with a breathtaking view of the Adirondacks in the distance and the Mohawk River just over the fence.

Winston-Salem Tobs:A paean to the long history of tobacco farming in the south, the Tobs will open up at Hill Field, with legendary power alleys and deep gaps - a pitcher's paradise.

Burlington Greens: The Green Mountain Boys, or Greens for short, will open up at Ethan Allen Ballfield on the shores of Lake Champlain. Only the biggest bombers of the AAO will send balls over the walls deep in RF, a section of the park they call 'Ticonderoga'.

New Britain Whalers:Cozy New Britain Stadium, with its ivy covered walls in center and left and its miniature "Green Monster" in right will be the home of the Whalers, the short porch in LF will make this a hitters park.

Dover Dukes

Jersey Devils

Lowell Commodores

MOUNTAIN & VALLEY LEAGUE

Rolla Rooks:The AAO's westernmost rep, 'as the crow flys', the Rooks will start at Sinful Ridge, a pitcher's park, but a haven for left-handed hitters.

Cairo Rivermen: Playing at the M&O Junction (Mississippi & Ohio Junction Stadium) the Rivermen will have a balanced park and a prime location at the meeting place of two of the greatest rivers in the nation.

Oak Ridge Atomics

Lexington Thoroughs

Charleston Cotton Kings:The Cotton Kings will play at Hammond Field, whose friendly confines will draw hitters but will be cursed by hurlers across the AAO.

Muscle Shoals Loggerheads

Muncie Iron Horses:Muncie Municipal will be a ballpark built for pitching, massive gaps and deep corners - doubles hitters will thrive, power men will suffer.

Wheeling Miners
