Paging Matt A - How is sorting by position done?
Mainly directed at Matt, but responses and opinions welcome from any and all.
On my team's Players tab | Overview with "Listed: Entire Organization" selected, I filter for First Base and see 47 players. This number seems to include all people that the team has labeled first-basemen as well as some others. In my home-brewed database, I select all labeled first basemen and get many fewer, which makes sense. I then select all labeled first-basemen and all players with a fielding_rating_pos3 > 0 and I get 86 players. If I go with fielding_rating_pos3>1, I get 24 players. I'm trying to figure out what the criteria is for including a player in a position filter and I am stuck. Matt or anyone else - how does this work? Thanks!

I believe it returns everyone with a visible rating at the position. So I don't know if your DB is showing you their scouted defensive ratings, but that can impact some players.

Makes sense, particularly the ambiguity of scouted ratings. Thanks for getting back to me.
I ended up changing it in the procedure I use to make depth charts to anyone labeled that position as well as anyone greater than 50% of the average rating at that position.
