I can’t believe they were going to try to get him in the bigs. Insane Sandy is what we should call Alderson.

And yet, he’s not so insane as some freaks in the Royals thread who “think” guys like Ian Kennedy are tradeable.

Well, Alderson is gone for cancer treatment, and the Mets front office is - astonishingly - now even more of a mess than before.

But hey, we need pitching help with Syndergaard out for a children's disease. What do you say? Is Kennedy available even?

Maybe Escobar, too. Would be such a Mets move to plunk Escobar, who was never good and has been getting worse rapidly, in front of Rosario, our self-proclaimed best hitting prospect of the decade.

I know no other team that calls him that, but sometimes the best solution IS delusion.

If he was 22, I would maybe be slightly encouraged for his arrival. But he's just another lifetime AAA turd that is washed onto the roster of an already terrible team that has been absolutely ravaged by crippling injuries.

And hand, foot, and mouth disease.

One year after he was dismayed for not being traded, the Mets have finally found a new home for Asdrubal Cabrera. Yay, rejoice! I never knew what we did with him in the first place...

Ravaged by 21 by the Gnats, but the Mets at least tried to make the best of it in trying to make Jose Reyes' arm fall off in a 48-pitch eighth inning in which he surrendered six runs.

I say start him today in lieu of Syndergaard, because last year's Anthony Rendon Game (6-6, 3 HR, 2B, 10 RBI in a 23-5 massacre) was also a Syndergaard start. I say give Reyes the chance to be a reverse-engineered, latter-day Rick Ankiel, just with more success. They have more in common than you might think, given that both dragged their carcasses onto the Mets roster before finally giving up their major league ghosts...

Ya gotta pick the little things to abstain from slashing your wrists with this team...

So the Mets are up 2-0 and have the bags full in the fourth against the Reds. Gary Cohen, talking to Ron Darling, shows some annoyance with their unrispness.

"Wouldn't it be nice, if the Mets could give Jacob DeGrom a nice, healthy cushion? Like four, or five runs? I hear, some pitchers do get that at a semi-regular basis!"

Golden.

So, some fool hits a sac fly;

Cohen: When was the last time Jacob had a 3-run lead?
Darling: Must have been 2016.

Yup, Mets are bad enough to be fun. It's that semi-crummy gray area around .450 that makes you really hate teams. The closer they are to .400 the better it gets...

(sounds the booming horn of victory)

Well, yeah, you haven't heard that one a lot this year, huh!? 8-5! 8-5! 8-5! That is not the office hours of Mets batters (although you might be inclined to think so), but the score by which we whipped the damn Yankees! =)

Life is good!

For a few hours or so.

Baseball is crazy. Beat the hell out of the Yankees. Get a miraculously solid start from JASON VARGAS....and lose to the second worst team in baseball.

Jay Bruce can't hit a damn, can't play right, damn sure can't play first, but not even his ghastly throwing error could unhorse Syndergaard today. 11 K, first career complete game, and it was even good enough for a WIN!

Despite Jay Bruce!

Amazin'!

DeGrom lost again yesterday because he made the mistake of giving up two runs. What does he expect?

His ERA is now "up" to 1.71 but his record is only 8-9. They say he may get three more starts; if he wins out, can he be the Cy Young Award winner with a record of 11-9?

And that's if he wins out, which is not likely.
