Historical Minor League Lahman semi-available

Historical Simmers: I sent this upload to baseball sim central today and it should be up in a few days. Anywhere else I should upload it to?

These Lahman-style/Lahman-compatable CSV files contain the actual minor
league Batting, Fielding and Pitching records of all major league players
who played in 1951 or debuted between 1948 and 1973.

The team and leagues are the actual minor league teams and leagues. There
is a “Team affiliation” CSV file that includes the Lahman style abbrev for
the major league organization these teams were under. “IND” means the
team was independent.

The file also includes 545 Japanese, Negro League and lifetime minor
leaguers and their actual records as close as I could find. There is a dearth of
fielding records for Japanese/Negro league players so in many cases the
fielding records are merely averages based on the records I could find for
those players/years.

I have used these files with 6.5 and 2006. In both cases as these programs
assume you are importing major league records I use MLE’s I generate
based on these minor league records for importation. I have played about 25
sim career leagues using these records and find that it adds greatly to the
depth of the game. Players start at the ages they really did and generally
progress very similarly to real life.

Man, this is huge if the output is anywhere close to the Arod/Garlon db. I'll be d/ling this as soon as I get halfway familiar with the game. Thanks for the effort!

Spritze - Any chance you could upload your files to another site? Possibly The Mod Squad, http://www.ootpmodsquad.com/ - Baseball sim central still doesn't have it posted. Sounds like a great database - I've been waiting all week to download it. Thanks for sharing your efforts!!

but were the stats adjusted to reflect real minor leaguers? The game will just see the numbers when importing and it wont know the difference between a .350 major leaguer, Triple A, Double A or Single A .350 hitter.
Same with japanese players.

is it broken down into the various leagues or does it all import as 1 giant draft class each year?

since we can assign different historical databases to our different leagues when importing rookies this year, this would be great for my universe. since i'm going from 1900, can stick with arod/garlon for the MLB, but use yours for japan league if it's split up.

In answer. Uploaded to OOTP Mods just now.

It is the raw stats. I assume everyone will want to use them differently

I do have the stats adjusted to MLE's based on player age, league level (AAA, AA, A, B, C etc), year, era (deadballs/liveballs), league totals (hitters league/pitchers league), etc. All MLE's adjust to the actual ML averages for that particular year. I can make this available if there is interest.

You can easily split it up into leagues (Japan), organizations, levels or whatever.

AND

No shrubs were harmed during the creation of this database.

Spritze (and OOTPmodsquad),

Thanks so much for all this information. It's just excellent. Way more than I had expected. You've done a fantastic job with all this.

I would be very, very interested in your MLEs, Spritze.

Could you drop me a line at agiacalone@carolina.rr.com? I have something that I'd like to discuss with you.

Thanks,
Anthony Giacalone

Help

I downloaded the minors database and placed it in the OOTP main folder using the same instructions posted for using the historical lahman53 file. The lahman53 program works fine. I can not get the minors file to load into a new game. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The MLE file could be hosted as well. Just email it to us.

Loading The Minors File

Point 1 is the teams and leagues are real not the major league equivalents so if you load it raw all the players load as free agents

Point 2 is I have noticed the CSV file date format for the debut date tends to change to 01/01/06 from the required 2006-01-01 if you open the master file in Excel or some other programs to look at it

Just change it back as necessary.

I'll try the downloaded file this weekend to make sure it loads OK. It worked before it uploaded so it oughta be OK but you never know you know. Plus that was tested with patch 2 not 3.
