1901-2005 Sim finally done

I finally got one to go all the way through from 1901-2005 with expansions!

Took about 4 tries but I got it and I'm happy. I'll post alot of the leaders here and if anyone would like info on how your favorites did I'll look it up and post it for you.

For the most part the stats (other than carrer hit totals which were rediculous) were fairly realistic. The one exception other than hits was Mickey Mantle's carrer home runs (1013). Nobody else had 800.

Nolan Ryan was by far the best pitcher. Anyway I'll post the leaders in some key stas in posts below.

Most HR's in a season

Way too many for me to type out all the 50+ HR years so I'll give ya the 60+ ones

1. Babe Ruth 70 1921
2. Mickey Mantle 62 1958
3. Lou Gehrig 61 1930
4. Juan Gonzalez 61 1997
5. Albert Belle 60 1994
6. Babe Ruth 60 1920

If your curious about where the Babe was on the All time list. He played for 7 years then broke his ankle and that ended his career He ended with 285 career homeruns

Nolan Ryan

I mention Nolan Ryan earlier so here's his unbelieveable numbers.

He played from 68-86. Was with the Mets until the middle of 83 when he was traded to the Braves, played there till 85, then finished his career in 86 with Texas.

He compiled a 389-151 record (2nd most wins all time and best winning %)
Struck out 6214 (most of all time)
and had a career ERA of 1.76 (lowest ever

Won pitcher of the year 9 times and was on 16 all star teams

He only got 1 World Series ring in 83 with the Braves

He holds most pitcher records for opp BA and stuff like that as well

It's good to have knowledge of the best players on your favorite team, and you have heard the names spoken, obviously. But for the future:

Rick Reuschel
Juan Marichal
Willie Mays

What settings did you use for the different things like aging, stealing, bunting, etc. Also, what database?

The Giants went to the playoffs 26 times over the years (most of any team) and won 9 titles in 1912, 1914, 1915, 1917, 1928, 1936, 1938, 1967, and 1976 (the second most of any team, the Yankees and Cardinals won 11 each)

Barry Bonds never actaully played with the Giants in my Sim...he played most of his career with the Pirates, and finished up with short stints with the Mets, and Cards. He played till 2000 when alot of nagging little injuries forced him to retire a bit early. He had a .264 career avg, 1835 hits, 454 homers, 1441 RBI, and 545 SB's

He won Rookie of the year, MVP 3 times, 1 gold glove, and was a 6 time all star.

Rick Reuschel was never with the Giants either and had a puzzling career. He won Rookie of the Year and had 6 more very productive seasons with the Cubs and Angels, then just retired. No injury or anything. He complied a 131-93 record, 3.19 ERA, with 1027 k's. He was selected to the All-Star game 4 times.

Juan Marichal was one of the most productive pitchers in my sims history. He played till 1974 with the Giants, and finished up wit hthe Cubs, Dodgers, and Angels. Over his career he had a 345-257 record with a 3.04 ERA, and 4142 K's. He was pitcher of the year 3 times and a 5 time All-Star, and inducted into the Hall of Fame

Will Clark had a very promising career cut short by a CEI. He played for 10 years getting 1919 hits, 286 HR's 959 RBI, and a .311 avg. He won the MVP once, won a gold glove and was a 5 time all star before torn ankle ligaments ended his career.

Willie McCovey Played most of his illustrious career with the Giants finishing it out in Houston and LA. He ended with 2818 hits, 560 homers, and 1632 RBI. He was a 7 time all star, and was inducted the the Hall of Fame upon his retirement.

Willie Mays had 2795 hits, 521 homers, 1539 RBI, and a .270 avg over his career. Most of wich was with the Giants, followed by stints with the A's and Cubs at the end. He was a 10 time All-Star, 1 time MVP, and 2 time Gold glove winner during his Hall of Fame career.

Matt Williams had a few good years at the beginning of his career, but then he had tons of injuries that severely limited him. He spent 6 years with the Giants then traveled all over the majors never spending more than 2 years with any other team. His career totals follow. 997 hits, 167 homers, 595 RBI, .242 avg

I used Lahman's DB my batter's aging was set at 1.150 (needs to be tweaked I think) pitchers was .985, and I used the steal, bunt and so forth settings that someone mentioned in a thread here somewhere.

What were the injuries set to? What would you go back and tweak as far as aging if you did it again? What was pitcher endurance set to?

The injuries were set to Very low for most of it, I upped it to low sometime in the 70's. Pitcher endurances changed over time according to the suggestions in this thread

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...85#post1738685

I think I would turn up the hitter aging, as they seemed to play too long and be too effective into thier 40's I would also turn down pitcher aging and see if that affected the fact that most starters become middle relievers far too soon therefore stunting their win totals for a career.

How about Pete Rose ...

Also, for my own personal curiosity, how about Bill Voss, a journeyman player in the late 1960s and early 1970s (who was my pastor for four years and a good friend) ... in all my historical sims he was just a cup-of-coffee player ... is there a way to check on him? Thanks...

This is why I like people to have me look up stats for people. Little know players or forgotten ones that people like or liked. I wish some more of ya would have me post stats on people

Bill Voss was mostly a career minor leaguer but he played 365 games in the majors for variuos teams batting .228 with 10 homers and 58 RBI. Over his minor league career however he hit .375 in 679 games

Pete Rose won a gold glove and was a 9 time all star during his career most of it spent with the Cubs. He compiled 3084 hits a .317 avg, .418 obp, 85 HR's, and 959 RBI. He was inducted to the hall of fame upon retirement

Dave Righetti got hurt (and quite significant ones alot of the time) almost every year he played, so as you can imagine he never had great stats nor a very long career. He was an all star 2 times, and his career line goes like this. 59-39 record, 3.62 ERA, 739 k's 38 saves.

Kevin McReynolds was a heck of a fielder in the Majors he won 5 gold gloves in just 6 full years he played. But he never got his offensive skills into gear. He only had a .223 avg, 38 homeruns and 121 RBI. He spent the last 5 or 6 years in the minors most of the time before finally giving up and calling it a career

Mookie Wilson never got anything going eaither. He played his first two years in the majors, with little success then had a series of injuries to his legs and spent the next 5 years mostly in the minors before retiring. In 288 major league games he hit .233 and was 26 for 36 in stolen base tries
