too few minors ruin prospects?

Using Ankit/Gambo.

So there are guys in the DB when they are 18, but obviously not ready (that is good). However, to keep fictional players down, there is only a AAA farm.

If I put an 18 year old 20/20/40 prospect in AAA when he is drafted (because there is no AA, short season, etc) and leave him there will he still develop just fine? Or will my potential 70/65/65 player peak out at 40/40/40 because he was "rushed" into AAA?

I don't want a boat load of fictional players in my historic league, but I also don't want to ruin every top prospect star because he was signed at 18 or 19.

Anyone run into this and have suggestions or results from it?
