Sorry for the late reply, needed a break from FHM for some The Crown, The Wire and The young Pope binge-watching and some quality LOTRO & Civ6 time Your pics are cool, as i mentioned every help on this project is appreciated and the quality of the player pics will automatically become better with time as you get more experienced with FG. Keep up the great work!

I know that the quality differs from player to player. But this is caused by the different quality of the source pictures. I started now with this set for the 1986-87 Season Swap stickers, checklist and photos for album Panini NHL Hockey 1987-1988 - laststicker.com. The quality of the pictures seems to be better and it has more players. I am just wondering if it would make sense to add some additional value to the fg_files in FHM3 for the specific year. A logic which is used for logos and jerseys. Example: Daren_Puppa_23_3_1965_1986.fg (Used for 1986-87) Daren_Puppa_23_3_1965_1987.fg (Used from 1987 on) Does anybody think this would make sense? |

No, because the game isn't setup to use it. What you'll want to do is simply to replace any lower quality faces you made from the previous sets with any higher quality pics in the next set.
Basically facegen isn't meant to update yearly, you just make one face of the player, from a pretty neutral pic that's as HQ as you can get it, when they aren't too old or too young and the game will automatically update the face as the player ages. So you don't really need to create a face for each player for each year. Just one face for each player period, taken from the biggest, best resolution pic you can find should be enough. And a tip on using the facegen modeller. Once the face is created, go to the 'generate' tab and the 'all races' sub-tab. Then play around with the gender, age, caricature and asymmetry sliders and you'll often be able to get the coloring and the overall looks of the faces to be much, much better than they are by default.

this is the piece of info I was missing! So basically the best age for the picture would be 25/26, right? My plan was to replace all players from the previous set with the higher quality pictures. Who is generally mergin the pictures or who decides which FaceGen of a player are the best? Last edited by jh95; 01-04-2017 at 06:52 PM. |

You can also use the sliders I mentioned in my above post to adjust the age the face appears in the modeller. So basically, use the biggest best pic you can find and then adjust it as needed in the modeller and let the game adjust it the rest of the way. As far as merging pics and compiling them, I don't think anyone's really doing that yet. Maybe someone will step up and do so once more pics have been created, but the first step is just making them, and you're doing a fantastic job of that! Maybe have a chat with Duranium and some of the other guys working on faces whoever they may be and one of you could work on collecting and collating the pics and picking those that are the best quality.

Ultimately what this means is your main effort is going to be spent in searching for the best pics you can find.
Finding the pics takes a lot more time than making the faces will, but when you can find good pics, it's really worth the extra time and effort, because you'll never need to make another face for that player again and the face will look great in game!

I decided I will upload 3 files per team from now on:
File one contains folder "fg_files" -> The FaceGen files File two contains folder "player_pics" -> FHM3 player pictures created from each FaceGen file File three contains folder "source" -> Source pictures Adding the zip with "player_pics" will make it easier in the future to decide which FaceGen of a specific player is better or worse than another one.
