New MLB Quickstart (for Patch #3 and later)

Here you go, guys. This is the 2014 MLB Quickstart with all proper team names in place. Note that these files are for OOTP Versions 15.3.11 and later. This is not to say that they will not work with earlier versions of OOTP, but there is no need to use them, since 15.3.11 is the first to not have Major League team nicknames included.

To use these, download the .zip files and unpack them into your quickstart_games folder in your default OOTP directory. Then select "New Quickstart Game" on the main menu, and select the one you want. There are two files, one includes all International Leagues and one includes no International Leagues.

2014 MLB Quickstart, all International Leagues included: New_MLB_QS_All_IL

2014 MLB Quickstart, no International Leagues: New_MLB_QS_No_IL

EDIT: So apparently this is currently PC-only, as it gives an error message if you try to load it on a Mac. If anyone can figure out why that is, it'd be much appreciated; as I'm on a PC, I can't exactly do much Mac troubleshooting myself.

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but for those that want a team names permanent fix for any new game (no template or quickstart needed)...send me a pm...I can't post it on the forum.

I originally wasn't going to even bother with this, because of all the workarounds that were being posted/hinted at, but then Wolf mentioned that it can't hurt to have too many backup plans, and I agree.

But yes, people, shoot Bigrod a PM or use these, I don't care. Due to the ease with which I was able to create the leagues (it took literally 15 minutes), I'm not going to stand for any more whining about not having proper team names.

Does this work on historical as well, or just new games starting in 2014?

If I saved an updated version I made of the 2014 QS as a new QS and then upgraded to the next patch my old QS would still have the team nicknames right?

Glad you did and thanks for doing do...I agree 1000% about the whining...causes way more problems than anything.

Works for any version that blocks real names..

I resolve a problem. That's easy,

First, Click New Custom Game

And, Click Advanced Mode

Next, go to Advanced Settings Tap

Last, Click Import Template button and Load default.wtp (this is update #3 version pure file.)

Profit! You see original team nickname for making new game

If you want to play only MLB + MILB, You can delete other International League.

It never, ever hurts to have too many backup plans.

They are like tourniquets; you never need them until suddenly you need them badly.

I can't load this because it says dat.world file is missing.

What am I doing wrong?

Not sure. I just double-checked, and everything loaded fine for me. Try re-downloading.

I tried a few times and it gave me same world.dat is messing

I will just play with random team names. Not that big of a deal

May not be a big deal, but just send Bigrod a PM, he'll fix you up with the proper team names.

Unfortunately, unless someone else can duplicate the issue, I can't really offer any other advice.

It should have logos but not uniforms (I believe - could someone verify that? I'm not 100% positive what ships with a QS and it's hard for me to test since all the images are already saved on my computer).

Either way, just download and install the 2014 All-in-One mod from the Add-Ons Central (accessible from the start screen or the File menu in-game) before loading up the Quickstart, and all the logos/uniforms should automatically import.

I have the same problem. World.dat is missing. But the file is there so I dont understand the problem.
