PDF Manual

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to OOTP Baseball. I've been playing Title Bout for a while and read about the baseball game through the web site and these forums. I finally bought the game and have been enjoing it so far. Like a lot of people on these forums I like a PDF manual a little better than an online version. I just find it easier to use. Anyhow, I created a PDF manual from the online one for myself and thought I would share it. I actually made two. One is the full version with all the graphics and bookmarks. It checks in at 617 pages and 17.3 MB. The second one I made for printing. It has no graphics and the font size has been made smaller. It is still 229 pages and 940 KB You can get them here:

Full PDF Manual 13.7 MB

No Graphics PDF Manual

I don't see how Mike R could ever top his first post.

Talk about a rookie debut...

Thank you for this compilation.

Wow! That's awesome dude. Thanks! Like goo said, it's gotta be tough to top that.

May I ask how you did it and how long it took you? I've never actually tried making a PDF manual and I have this impression that it takes a lot of work especially to get working links and other stuff in it.

The link to the full manual does not appear to function. The 'no graphics' manual appears after maybe a five second hang, but the full manual did not appear after a 90 second wait.

I believe the whole OOTP community owes you their thanks. Here's mine: THANK YOU so much for taking the time to do this! These manuals will be a Godsend to our league's owners who don't always have access to the internet.

The full manual takes quite awhile to load completely, but it does work. Firefox shows the beginning of the PDF version in four or so seconds as it continues to download the remainder. It take quite a long time for the full manual to load. If it's not working in your browser, try right-clicking on the link and saving the file on your hard drive.

And thanks for doing this!
It is quite handy.

It took a few hours. I worked on it on and off for about a week. I just copied and pasted to a Word doc. I found a program that creates a PDF from Word docs. The program automatically creates the bookmarks based on the headings otherwise I don't think I would have added those.

The server I use seems to be slow. When I first tested the link it took about 10 minutes to download and thats with broadband.

Anyhow this seems to be a great community with lots of people willing to help out. I'm glad I could contribute.

Thank you; that worked. Four minutes download time using RoadRunner.

The only fly in the ointment is, I don't think battists actually finished the manual before going on sabbatical. Take a look at the manual thread and judge for yourselves. His last progress report is post #96, dated July 29.

True, but this is still better than using the old version 8 manual. We should just keep in mind that it's a work in progress.

I noticed that as I was putting it together but It shouldn't be a problem for me to update the PDF when the online manual is finished.

Mike, thank you! That's really a great contribution and much appreciated! May we host it on our server and link to it from our website? Please let's discuss it via PM.

Cheers,
Andreas

Just wondering if anyone ever figured out if this is the final manual or if there will be more updates. I'd like to print out the final. Thanks.
