Need tech help please OOTP 20

I'm trying to play an 1899 season in challenge mode. I can't even get going past the 1st preseason game because the computer player does not have enough players. I get a message that says:

ATTENTION
Scheduled games cannot be completed: roster incomplete
Major league baseball: St. Louis Browns@ Washington Senators

I checked the rosters and the Browns only have 5 overall players. They do not have any players in A,AA,AAA.
The Browns are a computer controlled team.

What can I do to get the season going? Should I just abandon this 1899 year?

allow ghost players - that will help fix the minors. not certain about the majors, unless you elect to use "fill teams with fictional players" on MLB level. you could do that as well on the minor league levels too. however ...i don't know if that even possible in Challenge mode ... you may need to try something else, but no idea what.

1899 with minors???? OK.

The minors are basically empty for now on every team. I will be having amateur random year drafts, International amateur drafts (not sure if that will even work in 1899), Scouting discoveries, etc.....and every setting is set to A LOT. Hopefully over time that will help fill them up.
The majors are working great now thanks to your advice.
