poor performance of new players in lineup
Is it normal for players, especially pitchers, just added to a lineup to perform well below their stats for a period of time? If so, how long does it normally take to improve? If it is not normal, am I not doing something I should when I add them?

I think it is normal for them to perform somewhere other than as expected. Sometimes they are better and sometimes they are worse. Rarely do the first few games come in exactly where you would expect their career numbers to be. Over time, the performance evens out. For position players, I would give them at least 1000 at bats before drawing any conclusions. For pitchers, I would allow 300 innings for starters and 100 innings for relievers before getting excited or disgusted.

The developers have confirmed that there is no rust or adjustment period for players in Perfect Team. If your players perform above or below expectations when they are first added, it's just variance.
Just look at the monthly splits of a few cards, there's a wide range of outcomes in small sample sizes.

I thought it was relevant and not something that Orcin mentioned to say that there's no rust, which exists in the main game and it doesn't hurt for me to make a post agreeing with him.
My comment added more than a comment that only says that I didn't disagree with Orcin. I'm aware of that.

devs do nothing on there. no disadventage there. if you feel that they do bad performance if you put someone while season is going, it maybe is because ppl forget good memories easily.

so, what I like to have is guys capable on my bench. That way if a guy is having a bad season I take them out. Like, Sliding Billy, some seasons he is doing horribly, so I sit him for someone else. Other seasons, he is lights out. Unfortunately a luxury I can't really afford with my SPs due to my f2p status.
