A great pitched game by Sleepy Bill Burns was wasted as the Superbas lost 1-0 to the Doves.

They still have another game to play today.

The Superbas took the lead in the top of the 13th off an RBI single by Cale Bernard but Christy Mathewson came in to close out the game and allowed two runs, giving the Cubs a 6-5 win.

Antonio Perez left the game with a sore back. He will probably take the next few days off.

It was short-lived as St. Louis got a walk-off two-run single by ex-Superba Jimmy Sheckard for the 3-2 win.

That is five losses in a row for the Superbas.
