Bill Williams of Baton Rouge won the same award for his Short A league. For the bigs it was Roy Hartzell, Phillies & Ed McNichol, Red Sox Brooklyn held at #13 on the Weekly Power Rankings.

The Superbas took the lead in the top of the 13th off an RBI single by Cale Bernard but Christy Mathewson came in to close out the game and allowed two runs, giving the Cubs a 6-5 win. Antonio Perez left the game with a sore back. He will probably take the next few days off. WP - George Bell (9-9) LP - Christy Mathewson (13-9) Record - 35-41

It was short-lived as St. Louis got a walk-off two-run single by ex-Superba Jimmy Sheckard for the 3-2 win. That is five losses in a row for the Superbas.
