Why are all these minor league teams trying to outdo one another with stupidly silly names?

What happened to 1) finding a name that reflects the community and 2) finding a name that has a little dignity?

Admittedly, Chihuahuas reflects the community of El Paso, but apparently not in a good way.....

(I started to make commentary on the various silly names in the minors, but there are so many, the post would be several pages long....)

As someone who owns a Chihuahua, I am deeply offended.

Those dogs are too yappy, skittish, and methheadlike to be deserving of a sports team name.

Some suggestions to keep it cultural but 'dignified'.

El Paso:

Aztecas
Los Jaguares (or just Jaguares)
Zorros
Potros
Pumas
Tigres
Santos
Anything but Chihuahua

You don't want silly nicknames in baseball! That would offend the fans of the Phillies, Red Sox, White Sox and Astros!

Plus you don't want to name your team after small, harmless creatures and risk angering Cardinal and Oriole fans!

And that's leaving all of the silliness and harmless team names in the minors, NCAA, etcetera.
