*CLEANED OUT* Journalistic/Adult League

My last thread got ruined because of an owner squabble, or something of that matter (not sure what it was ), so I am starting up this thread. We currently have 14 GM spots taken, and they are the following:

Atlanta
Los Angeles
New York (N)
New York (A)
Boston
Philadelphia
Oakland
Cincinnati
Tampa Bay
Arizona
Toronto
St. Louis
Minnesota
Chicago (N)

We also have a website (thanks to the Red Sox owner), and I will get that done within the next 2 days. All applications must be sent by Thursday Night. We will start the league with as many teams as we have. All teams without an owner will be deleted.

We also have 2 great league GM/columnists, but we can use more! If you love to write, sign up! Here is the original post:

Hello All,

I am a long time viewer (first time poster, just registered today), and I am planning on going to College to study Sports Journalism and also practice advanced web design. I came up with this idea, figuring out how I could:
1) Have fun
2) Play an OOTP Online League
3) Practice my future Career

So what I now have, is a brand new OOTP Online League. This league is not going to be your standard "take a team, trade 50 times, you are in the World Series" league. What this league is going to do, is focus on articles, and managerial talent.

What do I mean by this?

Well, what I am going to do is write lots and lots of articles for the league, and hopefully have 2 or 3 other columnists in the league. This league is intended for the more "mature" owners, who love to read about their players, and have a very professional style league.

I am also sick of seeing children post messages such as "eat me dips***" or "your gay" (of course they use the wrong "you're"), so this league takes a break from childish actions. So with this league, we eliminate the crap, and introduce the beauty behind the game.

Trading, is a very sensitive subject. Many people say it makes Onine Leagues great, some say it makes leagues boring. In this league, there will be no trading from April until July.

What are you thinking Commish? This will ruin the league for sure

No... it won't. What this rule does, is enforce the "realism" that the MLB should have, and what it does, is causes the awesome "trading deadline" effect. In real baseball, players don't usually get traded 10 times in their career, and teams don't usually trade players in the early-mid part of the season. Also, there will be plenty of things for owners to do from April to July (mostly reading/writing articles), but when the month of July comes, all hell breaks lose. Owners will be firing out deals like crazy, trying to make that 1 move to solidify their team. As a fan, July 24-31st is the most exciting week of baseball, because so much action takes place.

Ok, so now down to league credentials:

16 to 30 teams (depending on how many we get)

Real MLB teams and rosters

NO DH! (All owners who have a DH player, will be able to move them to a new position)

162 game season, financials on

Coaches/Scouts off

Down to the good part, if you want to join, email me at MLBJournalist2002@yahoo.com with the following info:

First/Last Name
Age
Email
5 Teams you would like

Anyone can apply, as long as you are MATURE! If trading is what keeps you in online leagues, don't join. But for those who do join, I promise nothing but the best. You will realize the beauty of words, and how much fun they can be. You also need the game.

Thank you for taking your personal time to read my post. I will start the website (I am a pretty good designer IMO) once I get about 10 owners interested. I want to make sure I have something going first. Try the league out, I guarentee you, you will have a blast! (as long as you like to read). This league will eliminate the immature crap that some online leagues have, while managing to bring even more fun.

One last thing: If you would love to be a columnist for this league, email me! The more columnists the merrier. I can set you up with your own webpage, and all you'd have to do is email me your article, and I could put it in.

All rosters will be from last year! No Free Agency moves will be included.

One last thing before I forget:

All team markets and fan loyalty have been set to "Good". It's my own personal belief that if you are starting up a franchise, every owner should start on the same level fan base wise. We do not want to have any Powerhouse Yankees in this league, or the Expos playing in a shack. It's all about opportunity. If you can get your team off on the right track in the first couple of years, you will be rewarded as your fan base will increase.

These league is shapeing up to be really good. In two days of email correspondance I've received about 15-20 emails from league members regarding a variety of topics. So far so good!

Yes, it will be a solid league and the concept is great! Get in now! Only 4 teams left at last count and maybe only 3 as I saw a post that someone wanted the Royals.
