Time Machine Boxing Universe

Time Machine Boxing

First things first: I have stolen the ideas for this universe from postings by many others, particularly Lee's Random Chaos.

Set-up
I used Lee's spreadsheet to generate career start dates for all the fighters in my database. (thanks to cornerwork and researchers out there)
I will not be using any career stage other than prime for all fighters.
I am using nine weight classes; the traditional 8 plus strawweight. All fighters in other divisions are moved down one division. i.e. Cruisers become LightHeavy, Jr. Bantam to Fly.

All fighters are assigned cornermen who are at least as good as the generics. I want to see who the good fighters are without penalizing them with duds for trainers and cutmen.

Career Progression
I have used groups rather than career stages (for simplicity)
Each year rookie fighters in the Begin group fight 12 bouts of 6 rounds against Tomato Cans. They are then moved to Prep group for their second year. In the Prep year they will fight each other once to a maximum of ten fights of 6 rounds. If there aren't enough fighters to generate the 10 fights, the balance are fought against Tomato Cans.

At the end of the second year, Preps with .500 plus records are moved to the Primo group. Losing records go to Club group. Primos fight up to six times (at 8 rounds) a year within that group. At year end, sub .500s go to Club. Fighters with five straight wins or a .750 percentage go to Contenders group. Club fighters fight each other in 6 round bouts six times per year and can move to Primo with a winning record at year end. They may also be used to provide tuneup fights for a contender from time to time.

Contenders fight four times per year as selected by me using whatever criteria feels good at the time. A world champion may be permitted to fight only twice if there aren't enough suitable opponents for a title shot. If their record falls below .750 or they have five straight losses they are dropped back to Primo. As the contender groups fluctuate in size, there may be a second title belt of lower prestige added to a division.

All fighters will retire on the date indicated by the random spreadsheet.
