No hitter or perfect game??
Hi all,
I just got a message through during one of my playthroughs of one of my pitchers throwing a no-hitter but when I looked at the boxscore it seems its a perfect game? Can anyone verify this for me or am I being blind and missing the obvious? |

Yep, hit batter reached base - not a perfect game.

Has a perfect game been lost IRL due to a hit batter? I believe one or more has been lost on errors.

There are many knowledgeable folks on this board who will know for sure, but I think that the scenario you had happen (pitcher throws a no-hitter and faces the minimum number of batters, and it would have been a perfect game except one guy reaches base on a walk or HBP or something and was eliminated in a double play) actually DID happen in the major leagues at some point in the past. (Edit - see RchW's question - he got his post out just before I did!)
But still, a no-hitter is quite an accomplishment!

This is an older hence incomplete list but Mulholland had an error followed by a DP and Burdette hit a batter followed by a DP. See the link where you can click on the boxscores.

Cueto almost had a perfect game for me as well back in OOTP14. All good except for one lousy hit batter.

This happened in one of my leagues just the other day as well - would have been the first ever perfect game in that league (in its 7th season) but ruined by a hit batter with two outs in the ninth!

Don't forget when Mark Buerhle still pitched for the White Sox in 2007, he had a near perfect game. Walked Sammy Sosa and then picked him off of first. Still faced the minimum amount of batters.
