How can I add an independent league under these conditions
Hi Folks:
I have never been deep into OOTP (I am here for the boxing!) so I am a bit hard pressed to know how to do this. Perhaps I can't but that would be useful information too. So, if anyone can direct me, I would be most grateful. The set up as it stands: Fictional 16 team ML - One level of minors - No fictional players - Annual draft pulls from the Spritz DB - Reserve Clause rules in effect - 5 round ML draft - Currently in 1909, started in 1871 What I want to do: - There are too many players that languish in the FA pool and never play anywhere. Some get dumped after never playing an inning in the minors, others never even get drafted - I could add another level of minor leagues and likely soak them all up - My preference however would be to add a very small independent league of 4 teams that could later be expanded. I would want this league to have no draft, finances at a fraction of the Major League (which pulls historical modifiers and financials each year), I would want the roster size small and the teams to sign the junk players that are left in the FA pool. - I don't really care if this indy league locks players up forever or works on nothing but one year contracts. I would however want teams in the ML to be able to trade with them for players or cash. How can I do that or can I even do that? Many thanks to anyone with more knowledge than I have (low bar) who can help. - Christopher

League settings - Global settings From drop down menu add League set it as an indy League. Delete all players in that league. The AI will snatch up all your FA. Might want to limit Reserve Roster to 15 or so.
I recently added the 1920 PCL to my ABF league. I did not have enough FA to fill the league but the AI signed many aging ABF stars, namely 40 yr old Walter Johnson, who ranked #1 in the ABF with 435 Wins. His last 4 season in the ABF, he was oft injured and saw just 16 games in 4 seasons. He went 20-8 in the PCL in 1921. Indy league reputation is automatically a 5, if you add your league as a ML drop the league reputation down to a 7 or below otherwise some major stars might go to the new league. Might want to turn off trading also and have players from your indy league sold to your ML. I have it set up now so that FA is after 24 seasons since they can not be sold under Reserve Clause rules.

This is working well. They are signing some career minor leagues and washed up forty year olds. Perfect! I'll see how things go over a year or two with interactions between the leagues.
Many thanks.

I am trying to do basically this exact same thing.
However I can't get players to sign into these Indy leagues at the salaries I am setting for them. How do you have your finances set up in relation to your ML level? Does your Indy league need to be just slightly less than ML? I wanted it to be much, much less, but it's not working. Players are signing into my Indy league, but at ML level salaries. |
