Question about ratings

I a somewhat new to OOPT and have a few questions:

I am playing as the single A manager of a fictional league, hoping to work my way up the ladder to the majors. I am also not playing in comish mode which means I have zero control of who or what players are put on my team.

1. When I started the season I only had 1 SP and 3 MR everyone else was a position player. My question is this normal? It would seem the GM would at least try to give me 4 SP maybe a LR/MR and a CL or 2.

2. I have played 3 weeks and have seen several players come and go. I just recieved 2 players that have no ratings at all, will the ratings develope over time or is there something missing? These players do have scouting reports and 1 is projected to be a major league player.

Are you using ghost players in your saved game? You also need to make sure that there are no roster limits for your A level minor leagues, otherwise a lot of players may be released by major league clubs because there are too many for the roster limits.

I am not sure about the ghost question, to be honest I do not understand what ghosting is, but I do have no limit selected on the roster.

When you open your league setup, look under League Setup / Options - down where it says Player Options there is one that says Allow incomplete minor league rosters (ghost players) - this is what you are looking for. Make sure to turn this off if you are a minor league manager.

If you have a "full roster" (24 or 25 players, maybe even 22 or 23) but the distribution between pitchers and fielders is wrong, that is because the AI is having problems balancing the available players in that organization (all the teams, major and minor, for that organization). You could make yourself commissioner and fix that problem, but that would be the subject of another post.

If you have fewer than a full roster, that means you have ghost players turned on, but I suspect you don't because I think that might be fairly obvious.

Invisible ratings: if you are talking about the stars for overall and potential rating, the reason you don't see them is that you have to check that your organization's scout is posting his ratings for those players (not the OSA). There is place to do that on each players profile page, among other place. If you are talking about other ratings, that can be fixed but again a subject for another post.
