What is the Proper Way to Name Logos for Game Installation?
What is the proper way to name logos to install them in the game?
Will the game automatically install them if they are correctly named? I always have to find the logo folder and install them... this is no big deal, but it would be nice if it automatically does it. Will the game automatically install them? Does cap and jersey installation use the same name format and procedure as the logo installation? Last edited by Eugene Church; 10-23-2019 at 02:41 PM. |

Found my answer, I think... will post this in case anyone else has need of the information.
From the OOTP20 Manual: Team and League Logo File Location By default, team and league logos belong to your individual saved games, and are stored in the datasaved_games[your saved game].lgnews/html/images directory inside your OOTP installation. This directory also contains a number of other graphics that are used in OOTP, but here we'll just be talking about team and league logos. Using Logos Globally Although logos belong to individual saved games, you can also create logos that will be automatically used in any new saved game. To have a logo used "globally," simply copy it to the datalogos directory in your OOTP installation directory. Any subsequent time you create a new saved game, OOTP will check the datalogos directory for any matching logo names, and automatically copy them to the datasaved_games[your saved game].lgnews/html/images directory for your new saved game. Note: This will not copy the logos to any previously existing saved games. To get a new logo into an existing save game, you must copy the files manually into the datasaved_games[your saved game].lgnews/html/images directory for each individual saved game. I guess there in no way to auto load logos in an existing saved game. I will just have to place them there myself. Last edited by Eugene Church; 10-24-2019 at 10:59 AM. |

Team and league logos must follow a specific file naming convention, as follows:
Logo Naming Convention Example Team city_name_team_name or just the team_name Long_Beach_Singing_Trouts or Singing_Trouts League league_name Dominican_Winter_League Additionally, the following rules apply: All spaces in city, team, or league names must be converted to underscores ("_"). All periods in city, team, or league names must be removed. Ex. "St_Louis_Cardinals" The Mac and Linux versions of the game are case-sensitive, so the capitalization of your logo file must match your team or league name precisely. While Windows is not case-sensitive, it's always best to use case precisely. You can put a comment into a logo name by placing an underscore ("_") at the end of the name and then a comment, like this: "Singing_Trouts_my_comment_here.png". Remember, though, no spaces! |

Sounds like you've basically got it figured out, but I wanted to add that in an existing saved game, if you put the logo/cap/jersey in the correct spot with the correct name, then the "Auto-Load" button will find it, so you don't have to go searching from inside the game.

Thanks for your explanation, Eugene! I had been saving jerseys, hats and logos in a "Custom" file instead of the correct folder that you listed. Then when trying to auto-load, it would never come up and I couldn't figure out why. This will save a ton of time searching through every time; I am in the middle of setting up a new league now.
I could have read the manual, but thanks for simplifying the information! |
