Old Thread

Now that we are several versions removed from this discussion, I thought it would be fun to ressurect this old thread. I have both OOTP 16 and FM 2016, and I have to say they are simply both great sports sims. Not sure I am able to choose one or the other. OOTP's AI has grown by leaps and bounds and it's gameplay is second to none. The interface still feels a bit more clunky than Fm's, and I still think there are a lot of details OOTP can add, but it is a real great game.

soccer is for puffs.

LoL, JK.

i don't like soccer, so i can't enjoy that game. it definitely looks more refined, but that's just based on asthetics. i am more about function. without playing it i can't comment much.

i don't think it's comparing apples to apples though. with all due respect, ootp seems a bit more of a 'grassroots' operation with less resources, but i could be wrong. i can only assume it's easier to simulate a baseball game vs. a more fluid sport like soccer or hockey. even footbal is broken down into 5-10second plays for the most part, it's not seamless action like hockey or soccer.

What I just wrote on the old thread-

The only two sport sims I play these days. I love FM and would love to see team talks and media, player and agent interaction in OOTP. Team morale is such a big part of managing and FM just nailed it.

I have to say, the AI and scouting system in FM has really improved also, and frankly blows me away!

OOTP, because they have an easier interface for fictional leagues. (P.S., If there is a 162 game 30 team league template for FM, I'm totally buying it.)

Another Sports fan who has not felt the complete experience of soccer/football (I call football 'handegg' these days)
