RIP Don Zimmer

Don Zimmer passed away in Florida today at age 83. He was a great man and fun to watch. His army helmet was awesome!

It will be interesting to see if Pedro Martinez has anything to say. No one could hold a grudge against a character like Don Zimmer, could they?

So many great moments in the game... he will be missed. He touched many lives in a positive way. That's about the best thing that can be said of anyone.

Tom Verducci wrote a nice quick piece on him. He led one of those Forrest Gump sort of lives where he was a part of so many memorable moments. Here is the piece:

Dude never drew a check that wasn't from a baseball organization. One lucky S.O.B.

I hate the Cubs but I loved that 1989 team. Popeye is my 3rd fav MGR of all time and loved when Torre had him as his BC. He will be missed.

I never thought much of his playing days until his death. I knew the man that seemed to be in a dugout forever.

Of all the stories and photos that have been part of the coverage this is my favorite.

I'm partial to this one. To think that he was once a ripped power-hitting infielder, I had no idea.
