1957 Hall of Fame
Bruce Mercer, 2B Mercer finds himself among the average Hall of Fame 2B, with similar career value to Tucker Holley and Anthony Taubman. He went to four all-star games, and won two gold gloves and silver sluggers. Mercer was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the Supplemental 1st round in 1942 out of Clemson. He only appeared on one prospect list at #43 before making his major league duebut and finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting. He eventually was traded to the Giants in 1952 and then signed with the Reds in 1953 where he finished his major league career. He did play one year with the Sugarland Skeeters in the Atlantic League but his talent was declining very quickly. Career Stats: 8857 PA, 2119 H, 91 HR, 149 SB, .328 wOBA, 104 wRC+, 86.3 ZR, 47.2 WAR, 41.6 JAWS |

1958 Top 100 Prospects
Norm Molta did sign with the Rockies and jumps into the first overall prospect slot. Last year's number two hitting prospect is this year's first -- catcher Timo Fernandez out of the Dominican Republic. He doesn't have much power but could become a high contact, above average defender at the position. |

1958 Hall of Fame
Nicky Waitman, RHP Waitman ends up as more of a "compiler" than dominant starter, but he did have a couple years of great performances that gave him the edge for the Hall of Fame. He won the Pitcher of the Year in 1948, when he led the league in pitching WAR. He also made two all-star games. Waitman was drafted with the 6th overall pick by the Red Sox out of De La Salle High School but failed to sign and went to North Carolina. He was drafted 1st overall by the Red Sox in 1938 and signed the second go-around. His 559 games started ranks third all-time behind John Kalinoski and Devon McFadden. Career Stats: 4228 IP, 1324 BB, 1414 K, 3.55 FIP, 93 FIP-, 70.4 WAR, 46.7 JAWS Dylan Pierce, SS Pierce was quite the compiler himself but didn't have a good enough peak to make the Hall of Fame, never accumulating more than 4.8 WAR in a single season. He did win a gold glove, three silver sluggers, and get voted into three all-star games. He ranks 13th overall in games by a position player and 21st in at-bats. Career Stats: 9674 PA, 2334 H, 143 HR, 147 SB, .320 wOBA, 96 wRC+, 18.7 ZR, 45.3 WAR, 37.7 JAWS |

1959 Top 100 Prospects
The top 100 prospect list begins this year with seven pitchers. The first of those seven is Pedro Vasquez, a likely left-handed reliever out of the Dominican Republic. The first hitting prospect to break the string of pitchers is Anbrosio Santos, a 3B in the Marlins system. He too was a scouting discovery from the Dominican Republic. |
