Adding New Users - Online League

I'm posting this here as the Online League forum seems to just be people recruiting.

How do league commissioners handle adding new users? Do you keep creating a new zip file every time someone new joins? Do you make them wait until the next advance to download the latest league file?

We only have a few spots but guys sign up sporadically and it seems like I'm always creating a new zip file to send them. Just seeing if there is a better way I'm not considering.

The online league forum is for anything and everything about online leagues, this post would be fine there.

New owners cannot do anything with their team until you add them as a GM and send them a copy of the updated file.

So it's up to you when to do it, but that's part of running an online league - turnover. You just have to deal with it.

I usually have a file up for 2-3 weeks. I just add the new GMs to the current file, have them download the 2-3 week old zip, add the GM_data file then import the new league file in game. I could add new GMs quickly without a lot of work.

In my league, I had a guest profile that was unassigned to a team so that the new user could simply install the starter file, sign into the guest profile, and download the update in game. Once the next sim was uploaded, they could update again and see their profile that I added.

I used to be able to add their profile in game, save it, then send them the human_managers.dat file for them to overwrite in their folder so they'd have instant access to their team, but that method stopped working in OOTP 19
