Historical Roster/Play

Hi all,

Just started OOTP and want to know something about the historical simulation. So I want to start in 2001 with the Red Sox. Is it possible to play with the real rosters throughout the simulation? To clarify, I play 2001, and in the offseason the AI signs Johnny Damon and he is there in 2002, and after that season Ortiz is automatically there etc…

Thanks, hope that was clear enough.

Yes. When you setup your league select the option for historical transactions. Damon and Ortiz will appear just like they did in real life.

In-Season Trades

Hi all:

New to OOTP here -- great game and community.

Running a historical league and understand from reading online manual that between seasons roster moves are accurate to RL; it also reads that trades occur as they do in RL -- do these include in-season trades?

If so, do these happen on the actual calendar day the trade occurred in RL or at a 'pause' such as the AS break?

If not, must I manually make the in-seaon moves, or alternatively, choose to not make those moves knowing they will be sorted out with the end of season evolution?

Thanks in advance!

Moves happen when they did in real life.

You can also use actual lineups, if you desire.

One minor caveat to the process: in real life some players were released by one club and signed by another club on the same calendar day. OOTP spreads the transaction over two days, so if you are playing real lineups you have to check to make sure everbody is where they ought to be. Same thing with players who were traded after playing a game that day. OOTP will move them before the games for that day, so watch out for that too.
