Bring back keeping track of first hit/home run, etc...And fielding engine suggestion

This was in the OOTP14 thread, but I think both suggestions are deserving of a new thread.

The pre-SI era OOTP games used to keep track of the date and opposing pitcher of milestone hits. It was a very nice cosmetic touch, and doesn't seem like it would be hard to re-implement.

When a player starts to play a new position, he should quickly get to the point where he is passable. (assuming it isn't a catcher moving to centerfield, but rather a left fielder to right field, etc...) But still take a whole season to max out his rating there. If I decided to play Mike Trout in left field, he shouldn't be a 1 for the first month. If Trout is a 20 (out of 20) in centerfield, and I play him in left for a month. He should initially be around a 10, and a quick rise upward before maxing out at a 20+.

I also wish position ratings would degenerate, and then be built back up with playing time there. If a player has been at second exclusively for 5 years, he shouldn't still have the same rating at shortstop over those five years. Then, after, say 20 games (depending on intelligence/work ethic/whatever, it could be more or less) he is back to this optimal rating at that position.

What do you guys think?

That was before my day, but this is certainly something I would like to see in the game.

Same here. Don't recall seeing it, but more records are always better.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Absolutely, positively agree. A players level of athleticism should be part of this equation too, which should also diminish with time.

The fielding suggestion is exactly how it should work, IMO.

Don't forget the players longest HR, I used to love the streaks/records page.

Agree with it all. The milestone thing definitely seems like something which would be pretty straightforward to re-introduce...
