How do Draft Expenses work?
Say a player is asking for $10 million as a bonus, but you have $7.5 million in expenses, how do you get the extra $2.5 million? I've had over $30m million at one point to spend on the draft because my team was tanking and my payroll was significantly lower than my budget, thus I had money to spend.
Let's say I have $7.5 million to spend on the draft and $9.6 million to spend on Free Agents with $14.4 million to spend on Extensions, would I be able to pay that draftee a $10 million bonus because I have so much money left over?
I would need just $2.5 million because I already have the $7.5 million draft expenses, so I could use the $2.5 million straight out of my Free Agent expenses, correct? I've been able to do it before, but accidentally, it just happened and I didn't plan for it so I don't know how to replicate it and if I'm even right about how it happens. Is there like a percentage of the money for Free Agents left over that goes into the draft expenses? Whatever, all that matters is if I can sign the guy, can I?
Thanks.
