Decent catcher ability, multiple games of experience, but no positional rating?
I traded for Yankees 1B prospect Greg Bird, but I have lots of first basemen in my system so I was looking for another position for him. It turns out he's a converted catcher, so his catcher ability and arm have average ratings, though he didn't have a position rating at catcher. I force started him at catcher and he's played about 30 games so far, but still has no position rating at catcher whatsoever! I know catcher is the toughest position to learn, and the manual says converting a player to catcher is a very slow process in OOTP, but with decent ability you would think by now he'd at least be rated 1 at catcher, if not more. So, my question is, will the position rating ever show up? Do I just need to be more patient?

Have you had your scout take another look at him yet? You might not see anything until your league does a player progression.

Good idea but yeah it's actually been a few months now plus i've manually clicked "run rescout", multiple times since i put him at catcher, and other players who started learning new positions more recently than him have had new position ratings appear, yet his catcher rating is still nowhere to be found

That's a good point, and I've experienced that before with a third baseman trying to learn 2B with an abysmal Turn DP rating. That's what makes this so confusing, though - my catching prospect has 42/100 catcher ability and 47/100 catcher arm, and his other ratings are good enough to give him a 53/100 rating at first base! Am I missing something? Also, the managers on the two minor league affiliates he's played on have had Decent and Average ratings for "Teach Fielding" if that makes a difference.

I somehow hadn't even thought of that! I'll do it tomorrow and I'll report back with my findings. Thanks for the idea!

So I went into the editor and maxed out his experience at catcher and it only gave him a 37/100 rating....which I find weird because his catcher arm and catcher ability ratings are both above that....either way at least I know now not to waste my time playing him at catcher. Thanks for the help!
