Question about starting league - what market size do you use?

I've been planning on starting a league for the past week and I'm about to pull the trigger - or at least hit press the 'start game'. The plan for me is to be the GM and manager for one team.

What do you do about market size? I've seen the thread about using the draft budget to set market size. However what do people do for market size and why? I'm torn between have different market sizes and having everybody with the same market size. Just looking for insight between pros and cons.

I tend to use the draft budget to set it initially and then just let it go on it's own for the most part. I'll occasionally tweak it if a team moves into another's market or when one leaves though.

Note to self: Princess Kenny was really off-putting.

it really just depends on how you want your league's finances to look like. you want the average to be around 6 or you run the risk of there being either too much or too little cash flow in the league. I usually don't go below 3 or 04 and above 10 or 11

I do whatever i can to neutralize market sizes since OOTP doesn't model them right and they're more hassle than they're worth. I put national tv contracts, share them across the league and zero out merchandise, local tv deals and don't let teams set their own ticket prices.

Still get competitive leagues without the annoyance of that feature.

It is a hassle and annoyance. I don't believe I've successfully done it before; although I set the entire league to 20 once.

I did create a financial mod called GMExcel which opens in Excel or Open Office or whatever. It's had thousands of downloads over the past few years and it makes the financials work better, but it's external and it takes a lot of work.

That link will take you to the thread. You can download it here.

First I put all of the league-creation default market size data in Excel. Then I keep that total within a percent or two and design my factors in relation to that total.
