Advanced Metrics
I know that advanced statistics haven't really made their way into football yet (and may never), but at Advanced Football Analytics uses stats such as WPA and EPA (read about them there) to evalulate players and has Offensive and Defensive Effeciency ratings which they use to create win probabily for each game. In addition, there is a win probability model similar to the one in baseball, which shows an average team's chance of winning at any point in the game.
I think it would be super neat if you teamed up with the site and the things I mentioned were included in the game.

I don't know about that site in particular, but in general the difference between the advanced Baseball stats and the advanced Football stats I've seen is that the Football ones (the formulas/algorithms for creating the stats) are copyrighted and we couldn't use them in the game without permission from the websites.
That's a long-winded way of saying they won't be in V1. Last edited by Francis Cole; 11-24-2014 at 12:32 PM. |

Yes, but what I am suggesting is that you reach out that site and see if they will let you use their formulas. As it is a very small company, I'm think there's a good chance they'd let you use their stuff if you just put their logo and web address on the start screen. Maybe not, I really don't know.

Good idea, I think it would be best waiting until BTS is released so we can approach these websites and show them what BTS is about
But certainly in future versions I'd love to do it. |

That's great. I really think that it will add something that no other football game has.

If this does become feasible can I suggest you think about Pro Football Focus (https://www.profootballfocus.com/) - players are graded on how they perform their role rather than just yards gained / tackles made? It would be interesting to have that grading as a performance in a game or over a season when evaluating players.
Full disclosure: I do some data collection for them so may be slightly biased, but I think they're a great resource and I can help with some email addresses of folk that would be useful contacts if needed. |

PFF's O-line grades would be a cool feature in the game. Though simple stuff like pass blocking, run blocking, discipline, etc. would be good enough.
